An Old Friend

I stood there doing my version of what it looks like when someone's jaw drops. Toriel stood in front of me with widening eyes and her lips beginning to curl into a smile of longing and happiness. I smiled back and opened my arms wide, she nodded and scooped me into a loving embrace, beginning to tear up. I hadn't seen or heard her voice in such a long time, almost three years in fact. I treasured this moment, hugging an old friend that hadn't done anything incredibly traumatizing to me. She stilled smelled like lavender and cinnamon, a weird combination but smelled like home. I couldn't manage to create any words to converse with her, so instead I just hugged tighter to signifi that I had missed her to my core. I heard her sniffle, and only when that happened did I realize I was crying as well. I looked into her eyes and smiled, her eyes were a faded red-ish color, but still looked like a set of two rubies. She smiled and wiped a tear off her cheek, leaning down and kissing my forehead.

"I missed you Sans" She said with hoarseness in her voice.

I nodded, wiping my eyes on my sleeve. I still couldn't seem to form a response to anything that was happening. I stepped back from her a bit and chuckled.

"You've GOAT to be kiddin me, what took ya so long?" I chuckled, grinning at her.

"I was just a little busy" she smiled.

We began to walk and conversate, she told me she came into Rotting Falls for more food because she had run low. I told her I came for a similar task but hadn't been quite as successful as I would've hoped. She said she hadn't gotten much of anything either. That's when we developed the idea of hunting for food together after finding a shelter of some kind.

We spent ages walking around looking for a suitable shelter to hunker down in. We finally came upon Napstablook and Happstablook's old houses, Toriel taking Happstablooks to call a temporary home. I took Napstablook's in hope of finding some kind of food or water, nothing. I set up a bed with a sack of what would be potatoes full of fluffy grass from the old "Quiet Water" that I had dubbed "Forgotten Stream". The potato sack was the pillow while there was an actual bed upstairs in the second story. It was comfortable enough, I could stand sleeping there till we left this place.

That night I had a nightmare about Undyne dying from the wound I gave her. I woke up in a cold sweat, a feeling of panicking rising in my chest. I got up, walking down the stairs and out the door, I needed some fresh air. I went to a small pool of crystal water and washed my face with it, and immediately screamed from the pain, my eye didn't like that, it sizzled like a fire from the water. It glowed a bright orange color that reflected against my hands. The hunger inside of me was screaming. I stood up, shaking at first but steadied myself. I decided then and there that I wasn't getting enough food, and if Waterfall had so little, there wasn't going to be any in the Hotlands. I would need to go back where there was food, and I didn't care how I got it.
