SONG OF THE DAY:

"Georgennotfound onlyfans' by cJerk (on soundcloud/ YouTube )

It SLAPS
—————

"Are you sure about this? Th-that you want me?" Her eyes slimmed as she let out a small giggle, head leant back.

"You know that's what I want." He laughed at her bewilders expression.

"But- how, no just-"

"Oh come on," he stopped her muttering, "I think we'd make a good us."

She grinned slowly. "We'd make a glorious us."

===

"Now?"

"Yes. Now." Dreams heart stopped. He knew he was pushing the limits, but his goal was in sight. Better to burn a bridge before you get to it instead of when your half way across. And after all, limits were made to be pushed. He has to see how far he could go before she backed off... it was in his nature.

The pause lasted longer than he expected. "Okay... I'm free I guess."

"Great." He grabbed his mouse and started to open up the game. "Shall we just talk? I'm speedrunning but I could do with some company."

"Oh, trying to beat my record in front of me? Ballsy-" Layla smiled, wiggling further back into her bed sheets. "So let's talk then."

"Okay, where are you from?" He started interviewing.

Layla scoffed. "England if you couldn't tell already."

Dream smiled through his sigh, "no, where in England." She didn't sound like George did.

"Ohh, up north I guess. North enough that people from London fear us but Scottish people call us southerners." The girl couldnt help running rings around him with her words, "and you? What part of that... place... are you from?"

"Florida. The home of heatwaves and thunderstorms."

"I never pegged you for Florida man..." Layla tried to think of more topics to stop herself from asking if he'd ever fought a bear or gotten arrested. "What your name?"

"Dream."

"Your real name."

He halted. "clay. That's all you'll get." He was serious.

"I didn't expect more," the room suddenly felt smalled, air thicker. "You favourite song?"

"Right now, probably daisy or something... though there's this one song my soul- FRiend keeps singing that's stuck in my head. I don't know the name but it's catchy." He tried saving himself but it didn't really work. Layla didn't seem to notice however.

"Sing it to me."

Dream finally got into a new world and started playing. "What? No way." His response was delayed.

"I love music, I'll know it... Just the chorus." She open discord and pulled up the game he was streaming privately to watch, so she was able to see him play in real time. "Please clay?"

Dream wasn't a singer, he didn't like singing. The last time he sung in front of someone, that wasn't his cat, was on one of Karl's karaoke streams. It was traumatising, but something made the boy want to open his mouth. To show her he could sing, to impress her.

His chest rose with a breath in, and a small voice of a whisper came out. "It started with a whisperrrr, and that's when I kissed herrrrrr." For such a quiet performance, he was surprisingly in key.

"Everybody talks by a neon trees." Layla practically exploded the title out, "I'm obsessed with it recently."

"Why's that?"

"Seriously?... you don't romanticise the singer in a band pulling you up on stage and falling in love with you to it?" Layla frowned. "Maybe I'm just built different."

"I mean... I've had dreams of falling in love with people if that counts? Never to songs..." Dream laughed in a distracted manner, finally finding a larval pool, "well not until recent-"

Both of them stopped. Dreams water bucket misclicked and flooded the red pond, turning it into a dark black obiss.

"R-Recently?" Eyes wide. "Have you started having those dreams?"

"What dreams?"

"You know, soul mate dreams." The boy didn't talk, so Layla continued, "I read about it a while back. Only one out of thousands of couples meet each other in their dreams before they meet in real life. It's meant to prove you have a strong connection or something-"

"No." He cut her off abruptly, "Not like that, not those dreams. No couple stuff, it's just normal."

"Oh.. okay.." Layla sat awkwardly as she saw him log out and re load a world. The air was ever thicker now, oxygen avoiding where Layla sat making it difficult to breath. Her bed was too hot. She needed to do something before she suffocated from anxiety.

With a large internal eye roll, she pulled herself up and slugged over to the ice cold desk chair, logging back on to discord and onto her and Dreams chats. He was still their, just not talking. Her curser hovered over Spotify and clicked on her last song she'd been listening to. She played the song into the call.

Dreams game play stopped.

Layla started to sing quietly, and soon the boy joined in. It was slow at first, but once dream stayed playing again they got lost in the words. Both of them finally back to normal.

...

Alice smiled widely, stepping through her front door with a spring in her step. Today was the day she got her exams back, and she had straight A's across the board. It was almost as if she had cheated her way through. Immediately, her head went to her phone, more specifically to discord.

"DEREKKK!" Her voice whaled over the call. "I DID IT! I GOT TOP OF MY CLASSES!"

"Fucking hell Alice, I thought you were calling me because you were dying!" Dereks voice was unusually groggy. "ITS 10PM I TOLD YOU NOT TO CALL ME THIS LATE." Anddd that was why.

The door to her fridge opened and she grabbed a celebratory cup cake she had bought a few days back. "Whatever, I thought you'd be happy for me."

"I am happy for you, but right now I just want to collapse. Tell me again tomorrow yeah?"

Alice frowned, her cupcake now tasting not a sweet. "Fuck you." She ended the call, quickly going over to find Layla in her long list of contacts.

But she was busy. Not only busy, but listening to that song again. "God sake, she really has to hyperfixate on stuff huh." Alice clicked on the link, opening up Spotify and listening to the exact same song her best friend was, at the exact same place of the lyrics. "Ahh fuck both of them, I can celebrate by myself." She screamed the lyrics, dancing around her kitchen table with an uncontrollable force.

...

Dream and Layla where both belting the words by now, not a care in the world. The awkward tension seemed years ago as they sung together, slightly out of time.

That was until dream heard the neighbours next door.

"EvErYbOdY tALKSSSSS"

He froze, unable continue. She had took it out of his mouth. "Dream, you okay?" Layla paused the music to check on the boy, and the singing next door also halted.

"Yeah. Yeah Im fine..." for some reason he was smiling to himself. "I just think I found something." His attention changed from his shared wall to the screen, a smug smirk plastered on his face. With one final axe hit, the ender dragon on his screen combust into little green particles and he stopped his timer. He laughed.

"Oh you've got to be kidding me-"

Dream cackled back at the girls reaction, stepping up from his chair. "19 minutes. Check mate."
