Screams are heard in the distance, an appearance of a little girl with a long ponytail tied together with a white ribbon knotted into a bow. She averted her eyes, blurred by her hot tears pouring down her face. The sound of screams was heard in the distance, blood-curdling, echoing screams that had, the girl dreaming, to arise from her bed. The girl who rose from her bed breathed heavily in a state of shock from the vivid dream. She knew the dream called back to a memory she wanted to forget. Yet, something in the dream showed to her eyes, someone she missed dearly. Someone she wanted to see again but wasn't sure where, ever since her parents' divorce, the girl in the dream had been taken from her life. Taking a deep breath, she calmed herself while rising out of her bed with a note of her anxiety. Needing to get ready, Kathryn approached her closet, grabbing her school uniform and black thigh-high socks. Putting on her school uniform, she wore a warm grey blazer over her brown sweater vest with a white collared shirt underneath. The outfit was tied off with a red ribbon, a navy-blue skirt, her black thigh-high socks, and uwabaki pink-tip slippers. Along with strands of some of her platinum blonde hair, tied together with a small pink bow. Once dressed, she picked up the backpack, a hot pink swiss gear bag. Resting the sleeves upon her shoulders, lifting her bag over them to wear the bag on her person. Ready to leave, she grabbed her keys off her dresser, exiting her bedroom and down the spiral staircase.

Into the hallway, Kathryn gazed at each picture on the walls while heading down the spiral staircase, leading to the kitchen. Stepping onto the tile floor, she let go of the railing she held on to. Yet, looking out into the kitchen, Emily, her mother, noticed Kathryn coming down the stairs from the kitchen, preparing her breakfast of scrambled eggs, crispy bacon, and a waffle covered in maple syrup. Afterward, she placed the plate and the fork on the table in front of where her daughter sat. Once she did that, Emily cleaned up her mess, leaving her daughter to eat the important meal of the day. Her mind gnawed at her about a secret she wanted to tell, spiraling into anxiety. Breaking out in a sweat from her anxiety. She darted her eyes, watching her daughter in peace, then shifted them back to her hands in the water, washing the filthy dishes.

"Kathryn, my sweet girl," She called her daughter. Her voice shook with intense anxiety, while the feeling crawled up her back. However, despite this, she continued to keep her composure, closing her eyes for a moment while taking a deep breath. Kathryn stopped in her tracks, turning on her heels to face her mother. Her nose and forehead scrunched up, her lips pursed together as she tilted her head to the right of her. She wasn't sure what her mother wanted, but came curious to what she wanted to say. Watching Kathryn turn to face her, she wasn't sure how to tell her what she needed to say. Yet, Emily gathered up the courage to say something in the meantime.

"Yes, mother?" Kathryn asked her mom, raising an eyebrow in advance.

"I just wanted to tell you to have a good day," Emily told her. Kathryn nodded her head, unsure of what spiraled in her mother's head, but exited the house anyway.

What was that all about? Maybe first day parent nerves? Seeing how this is my first day of school ever? Hmm...

Kathryn thought while going down the porch stairs, watching her step until she approached her car. Approaching her car, she entered by sitting in the driver's seat, hands on the steering, and one foot on the gas pedal. Turning the key in the ignition, she departed her car out of the driveway that led to her house. Driving on the road, all of those thoughts from before flew away out of her head for the moment, but returned, once she arrived at her school, Doki Doki University.

Arriving at the special school, she parked in the four-year parking lot, turning off the ignition by just a turn of her key. Allowing her to unbuckle, exiting out the car with her things right after. Closing the door behind her, she scurried along the sidewalk into the building, down the hallway to the left. In her first period class, she sat down at a desk in the front row middle, setting her backpack next to her on the floor. Ready for the day, she prepared to learn in each class while each class went by on the fly. Though before she knew it, the dismissal bell rang at the end of her seventh period, echoing through the hallways. Informing the students that it's now that time to go home, knowing this students went rushing out of the door, quickly as possible. All while she walked among them, but before she left, she witnessed almost all of the students ramming over each other, trying to exit the building. However, when Kathryn strolled towards the exit, she noticed a flier on the floor, crinkled from top to bottom. Picking up the paper, she skimmed over the flier, seeing the words "Join the Literature Club". Reading the flyer, she beamed, folding the paper into her bag, zipping the bag up right after. "Hmm...The Literature club, huh?" She thought to herself, tilting her head a little, "Hmm, maybe I'll join, that is if any of the club members or presidents are at the festival tomorrow," She thought even further, with an ounce of hope in her heart.

As the morning shined on that Sunday, peeking through the window, waking Kathryn up to the early rise of the morning. Getting out of her bed, she wore a casual light pink top matched with jean shorts overlapping her jet-black leggings and same-colored flats. Styling her blonde hair into her signature waterfall hairstyle, securing half of her hair up with a pink bow, where the hair strands met. Ready for the festival, she grabbed her pocketbook, stuffing the bag with her wallet, a stuffed bear for her anxiety, and her phone. After gathering her things together, she exited her room, eating her breakfast in a hurry. Finishing her breakfast, she left the house and departed from the driveway with her car.

Arriving at the festival, Kathryn unbuckled herself, rushing out of the car, skidding along the sidewalk nearby. Beforehand, she closed the door behind her like before, locking the car like normal. Walking through the school, she strolled down the long corridor until she went up the stairs to the upper level. Entering a long hallway leading to a few classrooms, she kept making her way down to the room, where the flyer had stated. Strolling down, she stopped in her tracks, turning to an open door with a door curtain hanging from the door frame itself. Walking through the opening space, she saw some pieces of paper with words painted on them. Entering the clubroom she looked around the classroom, seeing abalone gray walls, and the ceiling above her as well. Speckled with some desks in a row from top to bottom, and an air vent near the back. Along with a tray of cupcakes set on one of the desks, posters about poetry, including a banner above the podium. A huge banner that showed a transitional painting of day and night. This banner gave a relaxed atmosphere while the smell of tea and cupcakes linger throughout the room. Yet, while she looked around the room, she took a cupcake with her favorite word "childhood" on the top. While also taking a little pamphlet, beside the cupcake tray on the nearby desk. With all she wanted to get, she sat down, eating her cupcake, waiting to talk to either the vice president or the president of the Literature club. After some waiting, she became able to talk to the president, who appeared to be approaching her while Kathryn ate her cupcake. However, while Sayori waved to her, she saw a tall girl with the same appearance as the little girl in her dream.

Yet, it was more than just the dream, a flashback flashes before her eyes, seeing the same girl again, but in some sort of memory this time. The two seemed to be dancing in a circle, playing ring around the roses within that moment. All with some other girls that seemed familiar to her, but not sure why. Viewing the flashback, the energy from it made her a little dizzy, snapping her back to reality, leading her to have many questions.
