Chapter 19: Self Awareness and The Mysterious Grand Ball

     Kathryn stood with courage as they all sat down on the ground together, except they all made a half-circle around her. "Well, as I said Valentino kidnapped me, Monika, my twin sister, and a girl named Sayori, turning us into his three dark beings in the first game. Each one of us had a different job in the first experimental game. However, now we live in a different game with the same jobs from before. As I have told you before, Sayori was the trigger for the script to go crazy as I described it, a siren, except not quite since her depression is real," She explained at first. "Okay.., but what about you and your sister?" Rose asked in concern.

"Well, me and my sister were used to self-aware killing machines, basically it went like this, as the game ended she would delete until her heart's content and then...well...I would be the one to destroy the whole place. Though I would do it with the fire magic I can do in my hands,"

"But how did that happen?"

"I'm not sure, all I remember is seeing a needle filled with green liquid, I guess radiation water or something,"

"Hmm...I see," Rose stated out loud, thinking for a moment. "But wait, why did we have to get the books from that house?" Mocha asked immediately after. "Because both of them have records of our family, the royal connections, and family history as well, something as proof for our battle uphead," Kathryn explained further. Rose, Mocha, Amber, and the rest of the girls exchanged a look, turning back to her with both their eyes and mouths open wide. "Wait, what?" Sakura asked, lifting her eyebrows in shock of what Kathryn just told them all. "Yes, it's true and it is all recorded here in this book," She told them, giving them the books they got from the house they were all in. "Wow, this states everything about us, our family, and what happened to our royal family," Caitlyn stated out loud, turning the pages throughout the book at a fast pace. "No, duh, Captain Obvious," Rose chuckled, looking inside the book as well. "Whatever," Caitlyn laughed, along with her. "I just can't believe we're royal, I mean who would have thought!!" Amber stated out loud as well, amazed at what she found in the family book. Kathryn looked at all of them, smiling at how they are all together as the next generation of their sides of the family. This feeling was warm, heart-melting, and even more beautiful than words can even describe in a story like this. However, she knew they couldn't stay here forever, so she built up the courage to speak up and get them ready for what's ahead. "Listen, so I also know you want to know why we are fighting Valentino, We're fighting him, because he stole our kingdom from our grandparents, and has done things towards our family as well," Kathryn spoke up, "Like kidnapping, and separating our families with lies, betrayal, and more. So when we see him, I want to take him down for his evil actions!! Who's with me?" She added with confidence in her voice this time. All the girls exchanged looks among each other, raising their hands as they rose from the ground with caution. Kathryn watched as they all did this with smiles made on all of their faces of courage and bravery shown on them. As this happened, all six of them marched with her, each of them grabbed their weapon for protection. Rose pulled out her scythe, Kathryn had her dagger, along with her fire, while Amber had her sword in her sword holder. With this, Caitlyn held on to her crowbar with a strong grip, as Sakura used a bat from her family, and Mocha used a spare crowbar for Caitlyn. Although, as the six of them strolled down the sidewalk nearby the spot they were at, Caitlyn got a phone call from someone in her family. She answered in the best whispering voice she could, however, Kathryn could still hear her, hearing her say things like, "yeah, they have no clue, Dad!!" and "I know, I know, I'll tell them later,". From these suspicious answers, Kathryn had her eyes on her, along with Rose, who also heard everything too, gripping her scythe to calm her rage. Rose wanted to pound her, but she was trying to hold that rage in, besides she didn't want to mess up the plan that they had right now. With that in mind, the girls found a random note on the road, Amber approached the paper nearby, picking it up from the ground and into her hands. "What does it say?" All the girls asked in unison, except for Amber, of course, but they all made sure that they weren't invading each other's personal space. With everyone being suspicious of the note, the particular paper seemed to be a dropped invite to a mysterious grand ball that Valentino was having for his son, Valerius Zareth. Kathryn slapped her hand on her forehead, she knew what this was about and she didn't want to go, but she did want to defeat Valentino and get Valerius to back off. So, with all the dislike she had in her heart, she created a plan with the opportunity to go to the ball. "I have an idea," She told them, thinking about what the plan would be. "Okay, what is it?" Rose asked her out of curiosity. "We go to the grand ball together, play by his rules, but we fool with his plan by exposing him to all the subjects who admire him, defeating him in the process," She replied with a hint of nervousness in her voice. Each girl thought about this plan for a moment, thinking about the pros and cons about all of this plan, only to come to an agreement about the whole plan. With this in mind, all six of them got dressed in formal attire in a nearby outside bathroom in their great grandparents' castle, making sure no one saw them yet. Amber dressed in a lavender halti maxi dress matched with low silver heels, next to her was Caitlyn wearing a pale blue tea-length dress matched with low-cut light blue socks and same color flats. Next to them was Kathryn, who wore a candy pink ball gown dress matched with dark tights underneath and jet-black knee-high boots. By her side was Mocha, who was wearing a short light brown dress and brown boots without a heel. While Rose wore a rose-red deep v neck high-low dress matched with the same color pair of red converses. Lastly, Sakura wore an asymmetrical, cherry red off-the-shoulder, A-line dress matched with the same color flats.

      As each of these girls came out, all six of them handed their ticket in, which Kathryn created and copied from code, and entered the castle's ballroom inside the building. The ballroom smelled of fresh, clean scented air of clean cotton with piano music to fill the mood of talking and having a good time. However, as they all went further along, something wasn't right as each girl stopped in her tracks, turning over to a group of round tables in the middle of the east area. Yet, the thing that freaked them all out was every side of the royal Shay family there together, waving hello at them. Each one of the girls gasps in unison with the other girls, shocked and creeped out at how each one of their families were there. Seeing this, Kathryn knew that this plan would be harder than she had originally thought it would be. Particularly as she turned to see Valerius waving and grinning at her with hearts in eyes, growing her anxiety at the foremost.
