Chapter 7: Learning The Truth

             Arriving home, Kathryn changed her outfit to a pair of pajamas as she walked out of her room. Entering the living room, Kathryn took a seat on the couch, trying to relax. She took a deep breath, trying to clear her mind by imagining a field of flowers making up a meadow. The light in the image, appearing in her head, gave a warm sense of touch. This eased her mind, opening her eyes to see the light of the sun, lighting up the living room. Though in the corner of her eye, she noticed a book lying on the bookshelf faced down. Kathryn rose from the couch, stepping over to the bookshelf. The book glowed in a hot pink color that reflected Kathryn's baby blue eyes. Taking the book, she opened it to see a whole family tree filled with many princesses, princes, etc. Skimming through it, she saw a couple of familiar faces. The first one she saw was Rose, then she saw herself, but what gave Kathryn hope was the fact that Monika was shown right beside Kathryn's name on the other side. Smiling Kathryn took the book to her room, putting it in her old pink bag for tomorrow.

     After putting something in her bag, she helped her mother out with all she had to do for the afternoon.

    Finishing her helping tasks for the day, Kathryn sat down on one of the wooden chairs near the dining table. Doing this, the two had dinner at the table in silence until Emily prepared to speak. Exhaling air through her nose, she conjured her thoughts. "Kathryn, are you alright?" She asked, hoping to make conversation with her daughter. "I'm a little shocked and I'm spiraling over facts," Kathryn answered. Her voice was filled with sorrow, not sure what to do. "Oh, I see, do you want to talk about it, sweetheart?" Emily offered Kathryn, tilting her head to try and see Kathryn's face. "Ok," Kathryn told her, turning to her mother.

"So mother, what's our history?"

Sighing, Emily prepared to tell her the truth.

"Well, sweetheart, The Zareths were the last heirs in the dimension we were once in. Valentine Zareth, the man who took you and Monika away to be experimented on-"

"Monika? What about her? Wait, are you saying that I was right about her being my sister or something,".

Emily nodded as Kathryn looked down, shocked by this.

        "You see, you and Monika are my fraternal twin daughters, and together with your father; we lived as happy as can be. When the Zareths took the throne and Queen Valerie took charge, she loved her kingdom and helped anyone she could. Until one day, she suddenly perished, then everything went turmoil," Emily explained. Kathryn kept listening as she took deep breaths. "So whatever you saw or heard of is true. As for your father, we just ended up different than in the past. That's all, but when it came to deciding where the two of you would live. Your father took Monika without letting her have a choice. Though, why she doesn't remember is, because your father made sure she didn't remember us," Emily further explained. Kathryn nodded her head in confirmation as she cleaned off the table. Emily did the same as the two ladies headed off to their rooms after.

         Entering her room, she packed some supplies and the essentials, along with a map. Gathering her things, Kathryn rose from the ground, carrying her things on her back in her old bag. Carefully, Kathryn snuck around her home until she finally ran away from the house. Running quickly, she headed for the place where Monika and her father lived. She wanted to prove to Monika that she was right and with her help, they could save their birth dimension.

          Arriving at their door, she knocked a few times before stopping. Staying still, she stood in composure, awaiting an answer at the door. For about five minutes, Kathryn kept on waiting until Monika opened the door. Surprised, Monika became speechless, not sure what to think as she noticed the book in Kathryn's hands. "We need to talk, there is something you must know," Kathryn told her, gripping the book with a grip so firm and strong. Monika thought for a moment, and let her in as the two sat up on the couch, shutting the door behind them both of them.  As the two sat, the truth would almost be revealed to true, kind eyes of Emerald green.
