"jaeeun!" donghyuck squealed, running to his best friend and hugging her. "hi hyuck." she smiled, wrapping her arms around his neck. the two pulled apart and stared at each other. they hadn't seen one another for a few weeks after spending most of the summer together but they most definitely missed each other.
"here, let me help you with your bags." he offered, grabbing her suitcase and a duffle bag. "thank you." she smiled, leading him to her dorm she'll be in for her sophomore year of college. once they get there, she screams. "hyewon!" she squeals, throwing her arms around her best friend.
"hey! oh, hi haechan." hyewon greeted the two. haechan rested his chin on jaeeun's shoulder and asked, "where's jaemin?"
"he went to unpack. i hear he has three roommates this year." hyewon said and donghyuck nodded, "yeah. it's him, jisung, jeno, and chenle."
"are you and mark still roomies?" jaeeun asked, grabbing two bottles of water from the table and passing it to donghyuck. "yeah. we're sharing a room with sungchan and shotaro." jaeeun smiled, "aww, you're roommates with my brother."
"speaking of siblings, i forgot to check on areum. do you wanna come, eun?" donghyuck asked, leaning at the door. jaeeun decided she would go, just to meet her best friend's sister.
you'd think that with as much time as they spent together over the summer that jaeeun would've met areum but areum was too busy with chenle and donghyuck was too busy with jaeeun. it never occurred to him to introduce the two.
"yeah. can we get coffee first?"
"after. areum's dorm is on the way." he said as they waved goodbye to hyewon, who couldn't help but scoff. they are so obliviously in love.
jaeeun and donghyuck walk around campus to the freshman girl dorms, going inside to meet donghyuck's sister. he grabbed jaeeun's hand and pulled her to areum's room. he knocked impatiently, waiting for an answer and suddenly, the door opens. "hey hyuck- who's this?" the girl smiled and jaeeun smiled, "hi, i'm jung jaeeun."
"you're jaehyun and sungchan's sister! hi! i'm areum."
"nice meeting you, areum."
"hyuck, isn't this the girl you-"
"shut up, areum." he grumbled, covering his sister's mouth. he smiled at jaeeun and pushed his sister away. "i just came to see if you were okay, which you obviously are, and im going to go get coffee with my beloved best friend jaeeun. bye." he said, dragging jaeeun out of the dorm.
"what was that about?" jaeeun laughed, giving in to his rush out. "nothing. i just want coffee and to hang out with my beloved best friend." jaeeun shook her head, "you're such an idiot."
the truth was, donghyuck told his family about jaeeun. he really liked her and he wanted opinions from his family. but they just teased him for finally having a little crush on someone, making donghyuck flustered. and he definitely did not want areum to tell jaeeun about it.
