As students stumbled into the warmly lit classrooms, greetings were exchanged as friends came together. Hallways became crowded as more and more people entered Karasuno High school through its iron gates. Against the wall of class 1-5, one could see a small blonde sleeping near the window, napping in the bleak sunlight.
...
"Yachi are you ok?"
Yachi squinted her eyes shut, her head resting on her arms. She could make out a distant voice, although she couldn't tell who it was. Regardless she just wanted to get back to her nap.
Finally, feeling a poke on her shoulder she gently raised her head up to look at the person.
After a few blinks her face lit up in surprise to see her classmate's face only a few inches from her own.
Letting out a yelp, she slid back in her seat, only to hit the chair's back.
"Ah!"
Her classmate's face filled with concern as she quickly rushed forward to help Yachi.
"Oh my gosh I'm so sorry Yachi, are you ok?"
Yachi rubbed her back before letting out a small strained smile.
"Um yeah I'm fine! I was um just a bit startled..." she mumbled.
Her classmate grinned and gave a soft sigh of relief.
"Thank goodness I was really worried for a sec there. I just wanted to wake you up before the teacher came in and you got in trouble!"
Yachi sat there confused and surprised for a second before quickly thanking the girl, to which her classmate then went back to her seat.
Yachi stared at the brown haired girl as she wandered back, countless questions swirling around her mind.
'I didn't even know she knew I existed... she's so nice'
As the teacher entered the room and students sat down, Yachi got out her notebook and pencils before staring out the window, a soft smile illuminating her face.
'Today's going better than I thought...'
...
Of course the universe couldn't let her day be any more perfect. Specifically lunch.
Especially lunch.
It all started as Yachi was walking back from the vending machines outside. She had finished her small lunch which didn't consist of much, except for a sandwich and a snack or two. Still hungry she went to grab a juice box from the nearby machines.
After 5 minutes of serious concentration and thinking, she finally decided on strawberry kiwi juice. It wasn't always the best, but she was seriously craving it at the moment.
Opening the lid she took a light sip before letting out a refreshed sigh. A happy smile painted her face and she hummed as she headed down the hallway back to her classroom. She preferred to eat in there, unless the weather was super nice out. It was more quiet anyways.
'I should get this more often!' Yachi thought, before taking another sip of her juice, only to turn the corner and walk straight into another person.
The drink flew up into the air and Yachi stared at it in horror, as it came down in almost slo-mo, spilling the sticky liquid all over her and the person she ran into.
She only had one thought going through her mind at that moment -
'I'm so dead.'
Quickly she turned to the person she ran into and bowed as fast as she could. Her face was burning bright pink and her stutter was out of control.
"I'm - I'm so very sorry! I didn't see you there and the lid wasn't on so when I ran into you it spilled everywhere! I'm so sorry - please don't kill me, I'll - I'll pay you back for any damages I caused, I - "
"Ah it's ok please stop!" She was interrupted by a soft boy's voice. It sounded slightly panicked and Yachi fell even more into disappear.
'Oh gosh what have I done!'
Slowly she looked up to meet hazel eyes. They belonged to a soft looking person with dark green hair and adorable freckles that speckled his face. A fly away piece of hair stood straight up, adding to the boy's features.
Stunned and flustered, Yachi stood there unable to think of what to say. Luckily she was saved by the boy.
"Um it's ok you don't need to apologize. It was an accident! I can just change into my p.e. clothes so it's fine!"
Yachi gave a small nod before giving another bow.
"O-Ok.. Sorry again..." her voice trailed off.
Her eyes meet his again and her gaze quickly darted to the ground. He seemed nice but who knows when he could change his mind and get angry at her instead?
'He probably hates me'
"Are you ok though? It seems like you're a bit disoriented?" The boy questioned, his head tilting slightly.
Yachi waved her hands quickly in front of her.
"No no I'm fine! I'm going to go change as well!"
The boy gave an awkward smile before rubbing the back of his neck.
"Oh ok!"
They stood there for a second, both unsure what to do next. Yachi began to fiddle with her hands, panicking at the awkward silence.
"Let's go or else you won't have time to change." A monotone voice startled Yachi out of her internal panic.
She looked up to see a new boy standing next to the freckled one. He had blonde hair similar to her own and framed glasses. A frown meet her curious stare. The tall guy looked her over once before walking past.
The soft boy quickly followed after his rigid (what Yachi assumed) friend.
"Sorry Tsukki!"
He turned around quickly and gave Yachi a small bow and smiled.
"Sorry about that again!"
She watched as he ran off after his friend, who had somehow made it all the way down the hallway. A small heat filled her cheeks as she stood there embarrassed. Although the boy was nice about the whole thing she couldn't help but feel shame for spilling her juice on him.
She briskly headed to her locker to grab her clothes to change into, covering her face with her hands.
'What if he tells the whole school and everyone makes fun of me for spilling it on him? What if my future boss hears what I did and decides to fire me for being clumsy? Oh my gosh I'm going to be homeless...'
...
As Yachi headed back to class in her P.E. uniform her mind continued to drift towards the unfortunate boy she had run into earlier. His freckles were what stood out to her the most. They reminded her of small stars (something she was quite passionate about).
She sat down once again and stared out the window, the midafternoon sun brightly glaring at her through the glass.
'I wonder what his name is...'
