We spent the rest of the day driving around and finishing any unfinished business we had here in Lucis. As Ignis pointed out there would be no going back once we head for Altissia. I watched the scenery around us quickly flash by as Ignis increased his speed. Unfortunately, it was clear we would not be making it to Cape Caem before sun fall. Ignis eventually pulled over to the side of the road and took out the map. We all looked over his shoulders which made him slightly annoyed.

"There should be a haven along this beach not too far from here. We will stay there for the night,"

"Camping again?" Prompto whined.

"Prompto, what have I told you about whining?" I asked.

"That if I did it again you'd hit me," he answered quietly, getting ready to flinch.

I nod, "You get a warning this time," I tell him, trying to be nice for once.

We stopped on the side of the road and took a flight of steps down to the nearby beach. We walked along the shoreline, being guided by the light of the moon and the flashlights clipped to our belts. The beach was small and a bit rocky, but we managed to make it to the haven safely. We set up camp like usual. I helped Ignis with dinner while the other three boys played Kings Knight on their phones. After dinner was done and we had finished eating I sat next to Noctis, talking with the guys about our trip and everything we've been through We talked about our adventure so far and stories from our pasts in Insomnia.

As we talked the boys began piling into their tent one by one until it was just Noct and I. It had gotten awkward after that.

"Hey," I said nervously, "do you mind helping me clean my wound?" He nodded and began looking for Iggy's first aid kit.

We sat in silence as he gently cleaned my face. I twiddle my thumbs anxiously as he touched me.

"It looks a lot better now. You probably don't need to keep a bandage on it anymore."

I smiled, "Yea. I should really thank Iggy for that."

Noct faked a hurt expression on his face, "What about me? I'm the one always cleaning it for you."

I laughed, "Oh, how could I be so rude! Thank you, Prince Noctis."

His face twisted in a scowl, "Ok, nevermind."

We laughed loudly together almost forgetting that their were other people sleeping only a few feet away from us.

"I hope it doesn't end up leaving a scar," Noctis said as he began putting away the medical supplies.

It fell silent again. I sighed and stared down at my feet.

"You nervous about tomorrow?" Noctis asked.

"Yea... how did you know?"

Noctis just stared off into the woods as he spoke, "Because I am too." He paused, "What do you think we'll do? After Altissia?"

I thought about it for a moment, "I'm guessing you'll be defeating the darkness like everyone's been saying."

"Hm." He said, "Y'know, darkness seems rather vague. What do they mean by that?"

"Beats me." I said. A sudden chill rushed through my bones and I began to shiver.

I was suddenly taken by surprised when I felt two arms pull me close. I looked up at Noctis as he held me, unsure of what to say or do.

He didn't look at me as he continued our conversation, "Well, whatever it is, I'm sure I can defeat it. As long as you guys are with me."

I smiled, "Of course. We'll never leave you Noctis. I promise."

He looked down and are faces were only centimeters apart. I could barely breathe and my heart was beating out of my chest. He stared deeply into my eyes as he spoke.

"Will you always be there for me, Y/N?" He whispered.

All thought was leaving my brain, but I managed to force a slight nod, "Always, my prince."

His eyes flickered to my lips. Before I could even process it, Noctis began moving in closer to me. He paused before our lips touched, almost as if he was hesitant. I could feel his warm breath against my face before his lips gently graced mine.

I inhaled deeply in a mixture of shock and pleasure. I didn't think I felt this way about him, but now I wanted this kiss to last forever. His hands reached for my face and then he jerked away suddenly.

He stared at me in shock before muttering, "I... I'm sorry I... I don't know why I..."

My heart began to sink in my body as he spoke. He pulled away and stood up, "Um. We should probably go to bed. I'll see you in the morning." He quickly rushed into his tent before I could say a word, and my heart began to break.

The next morning, after cleaning up our camping gear, we immediately headed back to the road so we could get to Caem as soon as possible.

I trailed behind the boys feeling hurt and embarrassed. I couldn't sleep at all last night after what happened. I couldn't stop thinking about the feeling of Noct's lips. And his final words to me kept echoing in my mind. I stared at Noct from behind. He seemed to be acting normal, but he wasn't acknowledging me at all. This only hurt me even more.

Along the beach was a group of alligator like creatures called Sahagins blocking our path. The area was small, so there would be no way to sneak around them. They must have been in a deep sleep when we walked through the night before. We ducked behind some foliage as Ignis began to describe the creatures in front of us.

"A group of Sahagins. Their teeth can skin a fish alive. Pulling away from a bite only makes it worse," I shuttered at the thought.

"So, the moral of the story is don't get bitten?" Noct asked. Ignis nodded in response.

We came up with the usual plan: sneak up on the enemy and give them all we got. I chose a pole arm so that I could deal heavy damage and keep my distance from the monsters. This strategy worked very well for me. That is until they began squirting water at us. Their water jets felt stronger than a hose and kept disorienting me. It made it almost impossible to fight the alligators off.

"Run! We live to fight another day!" Ignis yelled, which lead me to assume they were struggling as well. I considered summoning a magic flask, but I could no longer tell if the others had run away or if they were still too close to me. I continued my method of using a pole arm and tried to hold them off so I could escape. Then suddenly I heard a scream behind me. A scream that made all time stand still. I turned around to see Noct being dragged towards the ocean with his leg caught in a Sahagins jaws.

"Noct!" I screamed as I ran towards him. More Sahagins tried to block my path, but I hit them as hard as I could so that I could get to Noct as soon as possible. I could see him struggling and kicking the beast to free himself, but I knew this had to be making it worse.

His cries rang in my ear as I rushed to save him. I reached out and shouted to him, "Grab my hand!" He flipped onto his stomach as best he could and tried to reach out to me.

Just as our fingers were about to touch a jet of water sent me flying. I was disoriented for a moment, but now I could hear the others screaming for Noct as well.

As I tried to lift myself off the ground I looked just in time to see Noct's head sink under the water.
