belle's pov.

"that's what you're wearing?" cara raised her eyebrows looking at what i was holding in my hands.

i was holding up a red formal dress that had a v-neck. my mom got it for me for my birthday last year and i haven't really worn it.

"hey, you told me to be myself." i sigh and she looks at the dress one more time before smiling.

"you know what, i love it." cara smiled and turned away from me and looked at herself in the mirror and put on her dark red lipstick.

i sigh and grab the clothes i'll be changing into and walk into the bathroom. i lock the door and turn the shower on before getting in and washing.

-

"do you think this kids parents know about the party?" i ask as cara opened the front door to the massive house that was blaring music.

when we walked in i instantly heaved. the smell of alcohol and drugs mixed with body odor made me want to leave.

"nope," cara smirked. "and that's what is so fun about it. we can do whatever we want."

i rolled my eyes and she took my hand and walked over to the kitchen.

there was a massive island in the middle of the room that had all types of food and drinks on it.

and by food and drinks i don't mean the ones you'd find at your little cousins birthday party. i mean, bottles and shots of vodka, pizza that had bites taken out of it so it couldn't be eaten, a box of drugs, whiskey, brandy, tequila. the table was full of it.

the sight of it made my stomach turn. people really drink and eat this stuff? gross.

"what do you want?" cara asked as she grabbed two red solo cups and poured herself some bourbon.

"um.. water." i nervously spoke, scared on what cara would say.

cara looked at me a chuckled. "we're at a party, belle, and you're asking for water? come on, have some fun." she said nudging my shoulder.

i sighed. "fine, i'll have the same as you."

she smirked and nodded before pouring me a drink. she handed it to me and something caught her eye behind me.

"shit, jaxson's over there," she bit her lower lip. ugh. jaxson armer. her ex that she keeps going back to. "i'll be back." she wiggled her eyebrows and walked past me and over to him.

i huffed. great. i'm at a party full of people i don't even know and my best friend just left me.

i rolled my eyes and go to find the stairs. once i did i made my way up then in looked for the bathroom. when i found it i walked in and opened the toilet seat and poured the alcohol down the toilet.

i then flushed it and looked at myself in the mirror. i didn't put any makeup on unlike cara. i don't understand why she needs to wear makeup all the time. she's beautiful.

i splashed some water onto my face and then dried it with a towel before opening the door back up.

i left and went back down stairs to the living room where i plonked myself down on the sofa.

i felt so out of place. that was until i saw nia. i met nia in my biography class. we had been partners and she's really nice but she doesn't have many friends— she doesn't have any at all.

i look up at her and smile and beckon her over to sit next to me.

"so, what are you doing here?" i ask and she shrugs.

"i could ask you the same thing."

"my best friend forced me out and now she's with her ex."

nia nodded and took a sip from her drink. "i guess.. i guess i just had to get out of the house for a bit."

after a while of talking her phone rings and she gets up and leaves the house so she could hear what they were saying.

i was left sitting on my own. i looked down at my lap, fiddling with my fingers when i felt someone sit next to me.

"that's a bit of a formal dress for a party like this." an annoying voice, i new too well spoke.

i groaned and looked over at him. "go away, mattia?"

mattia polibio. the schools biggest player and jerk. he's practically fucked every girl in the school, including cara. i'm not sure about nia though, she never really said.

"well that's not very nice." he pouted, pretending to be hurt.

i rolled my eyes and looked away from him. "how about i get you a drink?" he offers and i shake my head.

"head?"

i give him a disgusted look and scoffed. "could you please leave me alone."

he sighed before standing up. "of course i can, but it won't be for long. just you wait, you'll be head over heels for me." he smirked and then walked away.

i rolled my eyes again and stood up and made my way to the front door and turned my phone on a searched for cara's contact but i quickly stopped once i saw that she was holding jackson's hand, leading him upstairs.

i huff. "need a ride home?" somebody asks. i turn around and see nia.

"didn't you drink?" i wonder and she shakes her head.

"sprite."

i smile at her and nod. "thank you."

she shrugged and we began walking towards her car. "it's no problem."
