Peter's POV
I swung past the city, already regretting telling Y/N anything. She could get seriously hurt if she found out. At least we danced together, that was so nice. I thought.
It was getting late, so I decided to head home.
I arrived, and May rushed over, hugging me and leading me over to the table, where dinner lay out.
"May, you don't have to do this every time I come home, you know," I groaned.
"I know, but after what you told me," May dropped her voice, even though no one was around, "I worry a lot more. Especially when you're out saving the world and all that." She smiled suddenly, and wiped away the tears that had leaked out her eyes.
"May.." I stopped eating, and ran over to give her a hug. "I'm safe, I'm here, everything will be okay."
"Oh Peter," she sighed. "Come on, eat up, it's after 9,"
I obeyed, and after kissing May goodnight, I washed my plate and went to my room. I changed out of my suit and into my pjs, picking up my phone to text Y/N goodnight. I frowned, no messages from her. Strange.
I sent her goodnight with a kiss, and waited for her reply. None yet.
Maybe she was already sleeping, or busy. Or maybe... No, I thought suddenly, and pushed that thought from my mind. She was busy, that's all.
I turned over and tried to sleep, focusing on seeing her tomorrow at the tower.
I woke with a start, drenched in sweat after a nightmare about Y/N. She had slipped and fallen off her balcony. She was calling out to me, but I couldn't reach her, I kept getting closer, but she fell further and further, until she had almost reached to ground and... then I woke up.
I checked my phone, like I normally did, and my heart gave a start as I realised there was no goodnight text from her.
My heart beat faster, and I decided to just a grab a cereal bar and head to the tower earlier, rather than wait until lunch. I shoved on my suit, grabbed my bag and headed out into the hallway.
"May, I'm heading to the tower now, 'kay?" I called out.
"Okay Pete, text me when you get there, okay?"
"I will, love you May!"
"Love you too, Peter"
And with that I swung out the window and towards the tower, to Y/N.
I stopped off at her balcony, and gave a tap on the window. No reply. I was beginning to get a bit freaked out, so I looked into the window, but she wasn't there. She must be at breakfast with the others already.
I reached the front door in no time, and rapped on the door, a little more harsh than usual.
Nat opened it, and looked startled when she saw my flustered face.
"Peter? Are you okay?"
"Is Y/N there?" Hysteria rising in my voice.
"No? She's still in her room."
"No she isn't."
"What do you mean?" Nat replied, beginning to look panicked too. She let me in, and I explained as we hurried to the kitchen. The others saw my worried face, so I brought them up to speed.
"We always send each other goodnight texts, but she never replied to mine. And I sometimes visit her balcony, and we have a chat and stuff, but she wasn't in her room."
"What's this about Y/N not being in her room? Of course she is." Tony walked in, saw the other Avengers and my's faces and dropped his coffee mug. "No." He whispered. "She can't have done."
He sprinted up the stairs, and we all followed, worry lining our faces.
Tony pounded on her door, and ordered FRIDAY to unlock it. He burst in, saw that Y/N wasn't there and dropped to his knees.
"Tony look." Nat walked over to the balcony door, and picked up what looked like a knife, "Y/N's dagger."
"Whatever happened in here, she must've tried to defend herself and never got the chance." Steve said, looking around.
"But who would-" I started.
"Hela," Wanda said quietly. "She's the only one who could've done this." She pointed to a few strands of dark hair on the floor, and an empty syringe. "Y/N was taken, against her will, by Hela."
The others gasped, beginning to talk amongst themselves, as Tony sank further down.
"Hold on." Nat said, holding up a hand, silencing them. The unmistakable sound of an email pinged from the living room TV, which was connected to Tony's laptop.
"Shall we go see what that is?" Thor asked, breaking the silence.
"No point, it'll be a work email." Tony sighed.
"No," Nat pointed out, "Otherwise it wouldn't have come on the TV. You have it programmed, remember Tony..." Tony sat up suddenly, with anger flashing in his eyes.
He ran back downstairs, and the rest of us followed into the living room. Sure enough, a black email icon had popped up, and Tony turned to us.
"Whatever this is, it won't be good. This symbol means that one of the bad guys still around, and they've sent us a message. So sit down everyone, and pay attention, this could be really important." He added, his voice breaking, and we all obeyed, finding a seat somewhere, as Tony opened the email, showing a link to a video clip, and pressed play.
