As the sun rises to its peak, the sky brightens up in its brilliant blue. A black Sedan drives into the busy street and eventually pulls over at the kerb, right across the cafe that is surprisingly closed.
Alighted from the car, Jungkook stands tall in a red hoodie and tight jeans. He frowns seeing the cafe with the lights off at this time of the day. The one who drives the car alights as well, slamming the door so loudly that Jungkook flinches and bows his head lowly.
"Are you sure this is the place?" The detective Park Seojun asks quite coldly.
Jungkook nods. "Yes, Park-nim."
"Why is this cafe the first thing in your mind?"
"This was the start of everything," Jungkook said behind a sad smile. "If it weren't for this cafe being here, I wouldn't do what I did. And they would not have met."
The detective wants to question more but Jungkook sets eyes on the cafe longer than intended.
"Please wait here," Jungkook bows again with respect and paces to the door.
Seojun nods and watches the young man walk to the cafe. He wants to be strict with Jungkook but he knows better not to push him. Jungkook has turned quiet and gloomy ever since his best friend disappeared from him.
Jungkook checks the door of the cafe and it is unlocked. He opens it, hearing the bells ring. He moves further inside, looking around at the interior that is well maintained. He notices the very little details of the place which brings him back memories of the times he planned the interior with the design team and the owner himself.
His eyes begin to swell again, the guilt in his heart is trying to make him cower. The remembrance of happy times spent with Taehyung is easily replaced by the quick shots of Taehyung catching him red-handed and leaving him.
"Excuse me!"
A sudden yell disrupts his reminiscence when the manager Sunho appears from the kitchen.
"Did you read the sign outside? We're closed!"
Jungkook turns slowly and faces the manager. "Lee Sunho."
The manager frowns and squints his eyes to look closely. When he captures Jungkook's face, he stiffens and comes out to the front, adjusting his uniform before bowing in respect.
"Jeon Jungkook-nim!" Sunho exclaims. "Sorry, I mistook you as a customer. What brings you here?"
Jungkook hides his hands inside the pockets of his hoodie. "Why is the cafe closed?"
Sunho smiles nervously. "I have sought permission from the headquarters to open half-day. My morning staff are unable to come for work."
Sunho looks at Jungkook's eyes for understanding but he only finds Jungkook staring back at him. Feeling nervous, Sunho explains again.
"One of my barista was hospitalised last night and the other barista is his guardian so both of them cannot come over to work."
"Their names?"
"Park Jimin and Jung Hoseok."
"What about Kim Seokjin?"
"Eh?" Sunho tilts his head to the side and then he recalls the pink-haired lad. "Ahh, our dishwasher guy. I called him but he did not answer."
"Dishwasher?" Jungkook raises an eyebrow. "You hired him to wash dishes?"
Sunho gulps, capturing the angry tone in his voice. "Ye."
"Yah! Do you want to lose your job so badly?!" Jungkook yells at him, causing Sunho to shiver. "We installed a dishwasher in every cafe and you hired a man to wash your dishes! Are you trying to make our cafe look horrible that we cannot afford a dishwasher?!"
