Dictionary definition of grimoire:

grimoire
Pronunciation /ɡrimˈwär/ /ɡrɪmˈwɑr/
NOUN
A book of magic spells and invocations.
'For years, I performed rituals from Pagan grimoires and read incantations to Bast, Diana / Artemis, and Hecate.'

"a grimoire is a book of magic, typically including instructions on how to create magical objects like talismans and amulets, how to perform magical spells, charms and divination, and how to summon or invoke supernatural entities such as angels, spirits, deities and demons."

{a grimoire may also be referred to as a book of shadows, and while the definition above is accurate in a technical sense- it does not include other uses of a grimoire that are more personal to it's owner.}

your grimoire is completely private and personal to you, it can contain anything related to magick that you'd like- the most important element though is that it is important and carries emotional value to you.

It can contain spells and incantations, as well as anything you learn or wish to.

a simple format to follow would be your magick name on the first page. a magick or coven name is a name that you choose, that reflects your magickal identity. It can be similar to your birth name, or completely different. It should reflect you as an individual and surname's are not required. It can be anything you like.
this will be the name you can tell to entities, gods, spirits, witches, and other magical creatures to protect your safety.

{giving your birth name to magical creatures is usually unsafe, as a birth name is required for most curses- and giving a birth name can sometimes put you into debt with creatures like the fae.}

some ideas for pages to include in your grimoire are as follows...

* Your paranormal experiences
* Spells and rituals you have learned
* Crystals and their powers
* Facts about magickal creatures that interest you
* Poems or words that are close to your heart and inspire your magick
