Chapter 11

It has been months since school reopened. I was doing well in my classes like usual. I had managed to avoid Justin. Well as much as I could. I had accidentally bumped into him.
He looked like he wanted to say something but I scurried away before he could even open his mouth.

What's the point if he's just gonna insult me anyway.

It was lunchtime and I was heading towards my locker. I was so hungry I could eat anything-well not anything exactly but... you get what I mean right?

I reached my locker, put in my locker code and stuffed my books inside. I blushed as my tummy rumbled. Which I'm sure -well I pray nobody heard. I forgot to eat this morning so you can't really blame me. I closed my locker and screamed as ladylike as I could. William(I hope that is his name cause I'm not really sure) stood behind my locker with a red rose in his hold.

Dumbfounded, I hesitantly spoke up.

"Um... Hi?"
With warm cheeks he tucked a strand of hair against his ear and gave me a smile. What's going on? Wait! Are you thinking what I'm thinking?

"I know you don't really know me but I've known you for like forever... I suck at expressing my emotions but for you I'll try."
Yep. I knew it.

"I really like you Nicole. And I know you-well I think you probably don't like me but I'll give you time. We can start at friends and we'll see where that leads to. Please?"

And... five points for Nicky Baby!!
Okay not funny. But hey I'm hungry so take a chill pill.
I took a look around and saw that he -well we had drawn almost everyone's attention including Sierra who was sending me thumbs up and jazz hands. Don't ask me why.

His reputation was at stake. And the fact that he had risked it for me was enough so I did this next.

I took the rose from him, stepped forward and wrapped my arms around him.

"We'll start from friends but at the end you'll realise I'm not the one for you"

He pulled away and held me at arms length and whispered that he'll prove me wrong. I smiled at him. William wasn't bad. With blonde hair and grey eyes he was quite the looker.
Claps erupted around us and I immediately stepped away from him.

I saw Justin storm off with a slam of his locker. I hadn't even realised he was here. My stomach rumbled again and I impersonated a tomato with my face once again. Jeez. And here I was thinking we were friends.

William linked my hands with his and we headed towards the cafeteria. It felt nice having a friend again. Halfway to the cafeteria I felt someone hold my other hand. I turned to the left to see Sierra flash me a goofy grin. Two friends? Not bad.

If having friends meant free food then hallelujah! I was all for it. But one thing that irked me was the side glances I was receiving from Ian and Justin.
Justin's 'stare' seemed like a glare and I knew the reason why.
And about Ian, his seemed like an i-know-something-you-dont-know stare. They both burned into the back of my head and made me uncomfortable.

But, I was satisfied so no problem. The bell rung and I got up. Sierra and William both had different classes so I was on my own now. I bid them bye and proceeded to head to retrieve my books for the periods left. After taking out my books I closed the locker and screamed yet again.

What's up with people creeping up on me?

Justin was standing beside my locker -well in front of me now and boy did he look mad.
I gulped and looked down. I could hear my heart beating extremely loud in my ears. If this was Tom and Jerry my heart would be coming in and out of my chest but this isn't Tom and Jerry so... Yeah.

I timidly looked down. I knew this wouldn't end well. It never does.

I flinched as his voice boomed across the hall. The hallway was empty so the echo was quite loud.

"What did 'he' want?! He bellowed stressing on the word he.

Just like always I was in a flight mode again. Knowing I wasn't gonna talk he rolled his eyes.

"Stay away from him".
With this departing words he stalked of towards who knows where. I knew it wasn't gonna end well but at least this time I was spared of the insults.

Just as I was about to head to my next class my phone pinged. It was a message from whatsapp.

Unknown: That was quite the show cousin. Looks like you've caught some eyes.
