For the past two months, I had tried my best to play cupid. How, you may ask? Well, I plan a day for William, Sierra and I to meet and chill as friends. They all agree and then I ditch at the last minute using excuses like Justin's sister is sick and their parents are not home.
Sometimes, I opt for emotional blackmail and pin all the blame on Justin. And before you start ordering holy water for me, I'd gladly let you know that it was a one time thing.
But you'll have to applaud me because I think it's working. Considering the secretive looks and shy smiles they have been sharing, I think I've done a good job.
We were currently sitting at the cafeteria when I noticed the apologetic glances William was throwing my way.
"Will, we are not dating, right? I don't want to hurt your feelings or anything but I just want to make sure..." I trailed off.
His eyes widened and it was very easy to notice the spark that had taken place in his eyes.
I narrowed my eyes at his actions.
"Is it just me or do you seem extremely happy after my question?"
I giggled as he stuttered cutely and choked on my apple juice. I began coughing as the juice took the wrong path down my throat. I quickly got up and rushed to the washroom. After calming myself down, I took a look at myself in the mirror. Pin straight black hair, blue eyes, button nose, pale skin and red lips, I was beginning to look like my mother.
Tears rushed to my eyes as I continued starting at my reflection. If only she was here to see this. I turned away and exited the washroom.
An arm grabbed mine as I exited the washroom and threw me against the wall. I winced at the harsh contact and looked down. I knew who it was and I was so not ready for this.
"Nicolette darling. What did I say about you hanging out with William, huh? Do you need me to beat him up to prove to you that I'm serious? Aren't you tired of whoring around?"
He scoffs as his grip on my arm tightens.
More tears flow as I refuse to look up. I refuse to give him the satisfaction of seeing me cry.
"What do you think your parents will say if they see their little girl whoring around? Oh, wait-- they are already dead. Sorry, I forgot." He mocks bitterly.
I look up at him for the first time and show him how his words hurt me. He freezes at that and his grip loosens. I unwrap his fingers from my arm and move away. As I walk away, my eyes fall on Ian who stands there watching everything with a clenched fist. His sympathetic gaze falls on me and I look away. I don't need his pity. I've got enough to live on it for a century.

I go to my locker and take my books as the siren wails and go to my next class.
As I enter the class, William and Sierra beckon me over with a smile. I avoid their gaze and take a seat away from them. Knowing them, I'm going to be bombarded with numerous questions when school closes.
The siren wails to connote closing and I join the crowd moving towards their lockers. I try my utmost best to avoid William and Sierra but they were already at my locker when I got there. I couldn't go back since they had already seen me so I approached them with a stoic facial expression.
William was the first to speak when I got there.
"I like Sierra. I think?" He blurts out once I'm in front of them.
I smile at him and respond with an 'I know'.
His eyes enlarge like saucers as he turns to Sierra who tries to hide a shy smile.
"You two did this?" He questions.
"No, I did. All those supposed meetups that I ditched, what do you think they were for? Oh gosh, I need wise friends." I mutter.
Sierra smacks my arm for the last comment as I stuff my books in my locker.
"Thank you." William says with a smile. I nod in answer and walk away from them with the intention of going home.
"Are you okay?" William hollers.
"No, but I'll be soon. Have a nice day, you two." I say as I exit the school.
At least I managed to make two peoples day a happy one.
