I stayed rooted in my spot as he approached me. Honestly, I felt like a lamb in a slaughter house.

Where is Sierra or Will when you need them? I thought as I stood there, motionless

I looked down immediately he approached me hoping he would get the idea and leave but, I guess he wasn't as smart as I thought.

I hid my shaky hands behind my back and tried not to breakdown.

I felt his gaze run over me causing a shiver to run through me.

I looked up and exhaled in relief as I saw Ian walking towards me but my relief was cut short as he looked behind me and clenched his jaw.

He quickly grabbed my hand and dragged me to the dance floor.

Karma must really hate me right now. But... what did I do to deserve this hate?

It must be that ant I stomped on. But, it was purely an act of self-defense. It would've injured me if I hadn't.

I stiffened immediately I felt his arms snake around my waist and pull me close to him. He looked at my immobile arms hanging uselessly by my side and wrapped them around his neck before returning his arms to where they were before.

He swayed us slowly to the music and I could feel my legs shake.

"What did I say about you whoring around?"

His grip around my waist tightened to match his dark tone as I tried not to faint.

"I-Yo-Y-Y-I..." I stuttered helplessly as teras welled up in my eyes.

"Funny how you're a stuttering mess now. You clearly weren't stuttering when you were in his arms, huh? That's so low of you Nicolette. You could've left my friend out of this."

I couldn't think or speak. All I could do was cry and cry and cry. Gosh, I'm so useless, I thought.

" Oh shush, baby. Don't ruin your make-up." He soothed as he dabbed at my tears with his handkerchief.

"I hate repeating myself so listen clearly, no boys, got it?"

He stopped swaying as the song came to an end and left me on the dance floor. I couldn't even move. All I could do was stand there helplessly and look at the floor.

Someone approached me, took my hand and led me out. I made eye contact with Sierra on my way out who flashed me a reassuring smile.

"Nicolette, look at me. Look at me, Nicolette..."

I raised my teary eyes and saw Ian trying to calm me down. This moment reminded me of those cliche scenes in those cliche movies so I burst into laughter.

Ian stared at me incredulously and I guess it was quite a sight: laughter mixed with tears were quite an unusual sight.

"Are y-you okay?" He asked.

I wasn't but I had to pretend to be so I smiled and wiped away my tears. I nodded with a cheeky grin as he stared at me trying to figure out how I easily switched moods.

"Do you want to go back?" He questioned gesturing back to the party.

My smile fell off my face momentarily and I quickly slapped it back on. I nodded and held out my hand.

He stared at me silently for a while before my taking my hand and dragging me towards the parking lot.

"Uh... the party is that way..." I said trying to get a clue on what he was trying to do.

We approached a posh car whose name I had no idea of.  He opened it and gently nudged me inside. I turned to him when we were on the road.

"You do know that Sierra knows my whereabouts, right?"

He rolled his eyes and chuckled.

"Don't worry, I won't kidnap you. Justin will probably murder me for that."

An awkward silence reigned in the car after that as I tried not to give a comeback.

We pulled up into the driveway of a house I guessed was Ian's home. And I guess it was probably not smart to go to the house of a guy you don't really know but, I wasn't exactly the smartest kid. Besides, I doubt Ian would try anything shady.

"Mom!"

He hollered as we entered the house.
At least his mom is here, I thought with a reassuring smile.

I froze in my steps as Mrs Lancaster descended the stairs in jeans and a t-shirt. She looked so casual that I was surprised. She grinned when she saw me and run to hug me.

"Marie, it's so nice to see you."
She exclaimed as she caressed my cheek.

I grinned and gave a shy wave.

"You're staying the night, right?"

"Uhh..." I looked towards Ian for help.

"Yes, mom. She is."

She grinned and held my hand tugging me upstairs with her.

"Let's get you changed into something comfy and then we'll binge watch your favorite series, okay?"

I nodded in relief and followed her upstairs.

"What's your favorite series?" Mrs Lancaster questioned as we sat in front of the TV.

"I-I don't have one?" I said with a grimace.

She sighed and turned towards the TV.

"Not really a TV person, are you?"

I nodded and smiled sheepishly at her.

"Just like her ..." She muttered

"Pardon?"

She smiled at me and randomly chose a movie.

I laughed as Ian scowled at the TV. We were currently watching an interesting but cliche romance movie and Ian's reaction was enough to make me double over in laughter.

I could see the hatred he had for romance movies a mile away. The only thing keeping him here was the threat his mom gave him when he decided to leave.

So... here he was, stuck with us watching a romance movie and eating pizza.

He jumped up when the movie ended and run off to his room. It was quite funny.

"You tired?" Mrs Lancaster questioned.

"Nope." I said, popping the 'p'.

"Another one?"

I hummed and took a slice of pizza.

"It's not good to be eating junk food at this time of the day, you know?"

I turned to Mrs Lancaster and stared at the two slices of pizza in her hands.

She burst into laughter at my reaction and I smiled.

I felt a warm fuzzy feeling inside me and I smiled as it dawned in me.

I was happy.
