Xavier
I was with my mother, we were sitting at the dining table as father entered the house.

It wasn't unusual for him to come back late from a meeting, what was unusual was he asked me to join for a family dinner, which he himself had missed as well as, my mothers excitment as he walked in.
She ran into the hallway as I stuffed the one last mouthful into my mouth before joining them in the hallway.

"Did you meet her? How was she? Did you invite her over? Did she accept him? How has she grown? Is she-" Mother bombarded father with her questions.

"Who is this she?" I cut my mother off, they both glanced back at my figure, standing at the dining room hallway, rather sheepishly.

My father gulped as he turned to mother, she nodded at him in reassurance as he thought of his words carefully.

"Son, I think its best if you come and take a seat with me in the lounge room." He then made his way to the lounge.
I send a curious glance at my mother before she entwines her arm with mine as we followed him into the lounge. Mother and I take a seat on the sofa, whilst my father was facing the fireplace.

"So son, how's your company doing these days?" He asked.

"It's doing great, as usual. You can just cut the small talk and get straight to the point, you know" I respond and with a sigh father continues.

"Xavier, Son, you are 23 years old, don't you wish to have your own space, your own place to call home, Maybe even a home to share with another where you will develop and grow old together maybe end up having to share with a few others along the journey?" He questions.

Where is he going with this?

"Father, I do have a roomate and I don't think he is planning on moving out anytime soon." I said while furrowing my brows slightly. He gazed at me, the corners of his lips rising as he then glanced at mother before continuing;

"Your mother and I both think that you are ready for marriage, we already have the perfect girl in mind. Infact, she is the one I had met with earlier today. Her name is Al- Ve- Leah, her name is Leah. Both your mother and I think that she will be perfect for you." I wait for him to finish.

Perfect for me?

"Father, you have got to be joking, you guys can't be serious. Why do you want me to get married, have I done something? It is not like I am living with you guys, I am independent and totally responsible. Is this because I was playing around with that ball and broke that Joseon vase? Or is it that one time I made a mess in the kitchen whilst trying to bake cookies? Or was it the time I accidentally set fire to that tea towel whilst trying to make ramen? I swear to God I paid good money for the big mouth to keep his mou-"

"Xavier, honey, we are not trying to get rid of you, we are trying to make you happy, we believe Leah will allow you to be your best, she will be your strength, she will soon be the reason you wake up, she will be the last thought in your head before you sleep. We are confident that she will be the lo- SAY WHAT NOW, YOU SET FIRE TO THE KITCHEN." She exclaimes after cutting off my rant.

My father manages to calm her down, as I scratch the back of my neck.
He mentions something along the lines of  dealing with that issue once we have dealt with this one. My father turned to me before saying

"Meet with her once, if you like her, which you will, then we will resume with a wedding and if not then life will go back to normal." Father compromises

"What does this 'Leah' girl have to say about this, wouldn't she want to marry for 'love'." I questioned. My father grinned at that statement causing me to furrow my brows.

Why is he so happy about that statement?

"I guess I could say she's up for a date if you are." I eyed him wearily as he awaited my answer. I glanced at my mum and she nodded in encouragement, a soft smile on her lips.

God, I hope I won't regret this

"Fine. I'll go on the date" I gave in. My mother jumped up in exhilaration as my dad ended the conversation with the words.

"Wonderful" He took out his phone as he dials a number.

"Leah?" I herd him say as he started to walk out but halts in his steps.

"Is everything alright?" He questions, he was looking quite panicked as he loosened his tie. I herd a voice coming out of the phone, but it was just mumbles.

"Oh" Father relaxes a little bit, "I am sorry to wake you." He expresses as he walked out of the room and into his study.

Who the hell sleeps at 8?

"My son is finally going to have his first girl, his first love." She squeals.

"Mother I think you are getting way ahead of yourself." I said whilst taking my leave.

I walked up the stairs, into my old room and fell back into my previous bed.

Do I really wanna do this? How will I know if I like her? Leah, hmmmm?

"Leah" the name doesn't sound wrong coming out from my mouth. Yet the name sounded so familiar. There was a knock on the door and my father walked in.

"Leah said that she is free tomorrow afternoon, she also told me to give you her number so that you two will be able to communicate with each other tomorrow morning." He announced before walking out of my room.

"Won't it just be easier if you sent me her number now?" I questioned. He stopped walking for a second, before he turned around to face me

"I will give you her number tomorrow, you will find out soon enough. This unity will be beneficial to you both, you'll complete each other." He boldly declares, a soft smile plastered on his face as he shut the door.

I go out into the balcony for both air and to take in the veiw.

Complete each other? I chuckled to myself.

Looks like tomorrow I will be going on a  date. Is this really how I should be waste my time?
