Leah
"Its been quite a while." The older man declares, taking a sip from his glass of wine.He had always told me that grey hairs were a small price needed to be paid for wisdom. A saying he has managed to live upon exceptionally well.
"I guess it has." I reply attempting to keep a straight, sombre expression. I cut a piece of steak and placed it into my mouth.
"You haven't left my mind since you left. I always thought of what you became. I missed you, and I am so proud of the young woman you have made of yourself."
I smile at that, feeling the temperature rise to my cheeks. I look back at the blue eyed male, now developing a few crow's feet, through my lashes to see him beaming at me, his eyes reflecting the glint of pride held within.
"I missed you to Mr Huntington." I pause to put some more steak in my mouth.
It'll be a shame for it to get cold.
"I can't thank you enough for everything, I wouldn't be sitting here today if it wasn't for you-" I continue only for him to cut me off.
"Leah, I did what any other person would do. There is no need to than-" I stand up, abruptly, causing him to pause mid sentence in suprise, as I swiftly make my way to his side of the table.
I wrapped my arms around him, astounding both him and his Personal Assistant. He didn't waste any time to hug me back, causing me to smile. His tenderness provokes me to never want to pull away.
"Thank you for taking me on, seeing me when nobody did, seeing me when I couldn't, when I herd the company were going to have a deal with you, it was a lot of effort went into convincing my boss to allow me to come and see you, to thank you, Mr Huntington you-"
"I know Leah...." he pats my back " I know."
I really don't want to let go. Please let me stay here in your arms.
We eventually pull away from the embrace and I went back to feeling cold, missing the little warmth he was able to provide me.
"I just, I don't know what I can do to show you how thankful I am." I confess. This induces something in him as a spark luminates his eyes however I can also see there's some conflict within.
What is he thinking about?
He motioned for me to sit back in my seat and I obliged.
"There is this one thing." He confesses, keeping his gaze on the wall behind me. I smile widely and motion for him to continue.
"Alea-" I shoot him a sharp look causing him to stop in his tracks.
"Leah, You know how I told you I see you like a daughter. Your achievements are my achievements, your failures are my failures." Unsure where this was going I couldn't help but furrow my brows. He grins at my reaction.
"I would very much like to make it official." He awaits for my response. I chew on my lip trying to make sense of his statement.
"Sir, I am way over the age where I can be adopted, and besides as much as I love you, I am very much loyal to my own parents." I state softly, my gaze shifting from his tie to his eyes.
Mr Huntington lets out a chuckle, he reached for his red wine and took a sip in order to sober himself up.I dont really know how that manages to work, but it does the trick.
He then gazes at me before declaring;
"I want to make you my daughter by offering you my son."I stare at him, blankly. I try making sense of what he said but my mind is blank.
Good Lord, Who? Why? WHAT?
