*A disclaimer before you read. This was my first story on Wattpad. This story will seem immature and not well written. I was young when I first wrote this. So my  grammar and wording will not be as good as my other writings.

I am keeping this story published for I will be able to tell how much I have improved over a matter of time that I have spent on Wattpad.

With having that on your mind, I hope you enjoy.

The town was quiet. Silent even. Some would call it pleasant, I'd call it new. This town was never this quiet. The town square was always buzzing with new gossip or new people. Today it was empty. Not a soul in sight, well all except one. That one was Dana Mccoy. If you ask someone in town of their opinion on Dana they wouldn't think of anything abnormal. Dana knew why the streets were empty why there was no new gossip or new people. Everyone knew what day it was. It was the fith anniversary of Oliver Fray. Everyone stayed inside their homes not daring to go out. It was once told that every year on his anniversary he would go to town square and haunt whoever would be out. They said that he had cursed the water fountain so that every time you threw a coin in and made a wish. You wouldn't get your wish. You would get the opposite of what you had wished for. Once Lily Camdern had wished for her grandma to get better. Everyone had hopes for her grandmother to get better. One night they believed that she wouldn't last it, her last night. So Lily did the first thing she thought of. She went to the fountain and had wished for her grandmother to get better. By the end of the night they thought that she would last it. Then her grandmother had a sudden heart attack and had died shortly after that. They all blame Lily for her grandmother's death. Now Lily hides away and tries to disappear.

Dana didn't believe the tale. Yes her grandmother did die but it wasn't Lily's or the fountain's fault. The lady was bound to die someway somehow it couldn't have been because of a curse.

Dana walked to the town square where there was always a person there to have a nice conversation with or maybe have tea with. But there was nobody in sight. It felt empty, lonely even. She walked up to the fountain that was centered in the direct middle of the square with benches surrounding it for nice seating areas.

Dana stared at her reflection in the water. She hasn't been there the day the event occurred she knew nothing of what had happened. Nobody did. Maybe they town was different before and then it changed. She didn't know. But she wanted to know.

Her reflection stared back at her. She saw a small girl with pale skin and dark eyes. People in town always told her how pretty she was. She didn't see it. All she saw was her eyes that seemed to look more lifeless than ever. She was never the kind to gossip, never the kind to joke. She didn't realize how un-normal she actually was. She never excepted it.

She looked at the statue that was standing in the middle of the fountain. Could it be true? Could there really be a curse on the statue? Dana didn't care about the curse. She wanted the truth and she wasn't going to stop until she had it. She wanted to know what really happened to Oliver Fray. She didn't want to be lied to, not again. She needed to know. She would do what ever took to find out.

Dana pulled out the coin that she had kept in her pocket. She rolled the coin around her fingers. She looked down at the face on the coin. It stared up at her. She threw the coin into the fountain.

She turned away from the statue and started to walk down the street towards her home. She had her plan and she was going to be successful.
