Kale's POV-

The crackling flames of the bonfire danced along with her. As she swayed and twirled, the flames did the same. It wasn't Lucy dancing with the flames; it was the flames dancing with Lucy. They followed her movements and lit up her whole being. It was as if the flames were reflecting her inner soul and showcasing everything within her. It was absolutely breathtaking.

She held Lexi's hand in hers as she spun the little girl around with a grin. Lucy's other arm was holding one of the smiling toddlers in it while she cooed at the child. They all looked so happy as they danced together.

"She was born for this role," Weston spoke to me as he nursed the drink in his hand. "Look at how happy she is just being surrounded by her pack... She was literally made for this."

"She was," I agreed with a smile while looking in my mate's direction. She was absolutely perfect for me.

"She's been through a lot," Weston observed quietly.

"Everything that she went through in The North makes her that much more thankful for all of this. She's told me that her residence up there was necessary, no matter how much it hurt her to be there."

Weston scoffed at my recital of Lucy's words. "We should have been able to protect her," his tone was bitter and harsh as he thought back on the fateful day that his pack was destroyed, and Lucy was taken.

"As much as it pains me to accept what she went through too... It's not wise to argue with our Oracle," I spoke in hushed tones. "I understand your bitterness at the situation, sir. I understand your hate and need for vengeance against The North, but we also have to accept that this is the way that it was supposed to work out. All of this, right here, is how it is supposed to be. The Moon Goddess sent Lucine here to us right now. We must be thankful for the time we have right now. We can't let our what-ifs and should-have-beens win over our thankfulness for the present moment."

"Grandfather," Lucy acknowledged Weston respectfully with a bow. "Love, is everything okay?" She asked, obviously feeling the tension around us.

"Child, I am not old enough to be addressed as 'grandfather' yet," Weston snorted with a headshake. The tension completely dissipated from around us all.

"Have you looked in the mirror lately?" She joked with a giggle.

Weston laughed and then reached his arms out to Lucy to pull her into a gentle hug. "I am so happy that you are here, little one. I was so scared that we'd never get to see you again," he told her softly as he kissed her head. "You have yourself a good mate, Lucine. Don't take that for granted. For you never know when your last day is your last with the ones you love."

"I do have a good mate, huh?" She said with a smirk directed towards me. "Not too bad on the eyes either," she giggled at Weston's disgusted face at that remark. "Marlene was a wonderful woman, too. I am sorry that she was taken from you. I can't remember much from the times before, but I remember her caring for me as if she was my own mother. As my visions get stronger, the more I am able to look into the past... You were like a father to me too. My mother and father would have been very proud and grateful for the way you stepped up when they met their downfall. Even through your own grief and strain, you led the pack like a pillar of strength. I thank you on their behalf as well as mine... Thank you, for stepping up and being the pillar that we all needed."

"It was my job, little princess. No need to thank me for doing my job. I am only glad that you were still there to be our beacon of hope. Even when times were tough and we all wanted to give up, you were there. We all still felt the connection to you, so we had to believe that you were not dead. Now... here we all are... being led by you, our beautiful hope."

She smiled and kissed him on the cheek. "You are very special to me," she said. "And you don't like grandfather, huh? How about... Grandbeta? Grand for short?"

Weston snorted at Lucy and shook his head, "Whatever you want to call me, Lucy. I've been wrapped around your finger since the moment you were born. Why should it be any different now?"

"Exactly!" Luce joked and giggled. "Now... Please oblige me by dancing with me?" She asked with puppy dog eyes and a cute little pout.

That moment reminded me of how much she truly had missed out on her childhood. She missed out on growing up, on being with her family, on getting to know her parents. Weston truly was like her father now...

It all made a part of me ache for my beautiful mate. She missed out on so much, but she was the absolute best person that I knew. She truly was a beacon of hope... for all of us. She was the good that we all could obtain. She was the good that could come if we rid the world of The North and their tirade.

I continued staring at my girl... my Luna. She was so stunning. The way her smile met her swirling eyes, the way she leaned into people's touches now, the way she swept everyone up into her loving light and energy... It was all absolutely beautiful.

"Well, love, I think that you've officially danced with everyone except me... Cory's pack included!" I told Lucy with a laugh as she walked away from the designated dancing area with Weston.

"Is this your version of you asking me to dance?" She asked with an eyebrow raised.

"Luce, my Luna, will you please please dance with me? Pretty please?"

She feigned as if she was thinking long and hard. "Hmmm... Well, I suppose so," she sighed dramatically and then giggled.

I watched her laugh with a light heart. The fire illuminated her face in warm light, showing just how gorgeous she was. Suddenly, I couldn't help it, between her beautiful smile, harmonious laugh, and beautiful face... I just kissed her. I had to.

The kiss caught her completely off guard, so she stumbled backwards and lost her footing. I caught her easily and pulled her body flush with mine. As soon as I wrapped my arms around her, hers came around my neck, and her lips moved with mine in the sweetest, most wonderful kiss.

When I finally pulled my lips away from hers, we both stared at each other... and then we both laughed like idiots. Her laugh was the most beautiful sound that I had ever heard. I loved absolutely everything about her.

"C'mon, Kale, I believe you owe me a dance," she said softly with a grin.

I led her out into the dancing area and spun her around before pulling her close into my body. Everyone else was gathered around the area and watching us with shining eyes. We found our Luna.

----

The moon was high in the sky. It was just a few more moments before the almost full moon was at its highest. I felt the draw to the moon immediately as I let my wolf begin surfacing. I hadn't shifted completely, but I was letting my animal side out little by little knowing that the time was near.

Lucy stood beside me with a look of pride as I felt her wolf come out little by little as well. We were ready to run. We were ready to lead!

"So, tonight, we run. Tonight, we commemorate the beginning of our pack. Tonight, we run together. Together, we are strong. We are stronger than the evil. We are stronger than the conflict. Together, we fight. Together, we overcome!" I spoke in a strong voice.

Just then the moon hit her height and I shifted. Lucy shifted as much as she could along with me and situated herself onto my back. The pack followed our lead, and we all took off running through the trees.

I felt it right then... We had a long way to go, but we were a pack. We were all a pack. We had potential, and we were going to defeat The North. It wasn't a question... we had to defeat The North! We were going make sure that they were never going to oppress us! They'd never overtake us.

We would win! We had to! The North had to be defeated.
