Kale's POV-
I wanted to scream. I wanted to tear everything apart. I wanted to storm The North's territory and fight them to the death. However, I knew that I couldn't do that. I had to do what was right for my pack, for the whole of the world. I couldn't act brashly and hatefully. I had to be that light... for her.
The silence and the hole in my chest hurt so bad. I was grateful for that hurt though... If it didn't hurt, then it would mean that she hadn't been real. She was real, and she was mine. Even if it had only been for a little while, she had been mine. She had changed me completely.
My mate, my love, my oracle, my Luna, my Luce. She had been there. She was still there... She had to be. I had to believe that she was still there, even if it was only in spirit.
Everything felt like it had no purpose now. I had waited so long for my mate, and she had been ripped from me so quickly. The universe was this vast and beautiful place, but my universe had been my Luce... and now she was gone. My beautiful, celestial lovely universe...
KALE.
The pack-link boomed in my head with panic. It had been Sam, and he was desperate.
I wasted no time. I turned around from my emotion-filled night run and rushed back to the packhouse. What was going on?
As soon as I made it out of the trees, I could clearly feel the palpable panic of Sam and Lexi. Through that panic, I could feel the sadness. There was a heart-wrenching soul crushing sadness sitting deep in my chest. My wolf knew exactly where to go, and he got me there quick. I couldn't lose another pack member... I couldn't.
"Thea..." I said softly as soon as I shifted from my wolf form. I walked closer to her, trying to get to her before she hurt herself.
"No! don't come any closer!" The little girl said as she looked down the dark pit that had swallowed Lucy up.
She was barely seven. She had only had three full moon shifts under her belt. She was far too young to have had all this heartbreak. She was far to young to be feeling the severe pain that I was feeling from her.
"Thea," I said softly again, but stopped next to Sam and Lexi.
"It's all my fault," she sobbed. "I got her killed. She died because of me."
"She died because of who she was," I told her strongly. "The North was there to kill her. They were not going to give up until they got her. She knew exactly what she was doing, little one. You have to know that," I spoke to her in a soft and careful voice. "She foresaw what was going to happen, and she still made the choice that she had. Don't make that choice be in vain, my little Thea. Lucy loves you. And yes... she sacrificed herself for that love. It doesn't matter what the situation was surrounding the outcome, only the outcome matters."
"But it was me. I-I thought that I would avenge Laura and I..." the little she wolf began crying profusely.
I used that moment to approach her and hug her tightly. "The North is who killed our Luna. It wasn't you, it wasn't me, it wasn't some freak accident. It was The North. Don't place the blame on anyone but them," I explained to her softly.
"I just... I feel so- I want her back! I-I..."
"I know," I whispered into her hair softly. "Oh, my sweet little girl... I know," I sobbed, feeling my own emotions swirling together in my chest to meet hers. "I hurt too. I feel that all consuming hurt too."
"How do we fix it?" She asked me innocently.
"I don't think there is a fix, Thea. I don't think that there's anything that will ever replace her, just like Laura," I said softly. "But that's okay... We wouldn't want to replace them anyways! Death is apart of life, little one. Death is not the end, so don't be sad for them. Death is merely the beginning of a new and unknown chapter. That doesn't mean it's bad. That doesn't mean that we no longer have access to our loved ones. They're here... all around. They're with you, with me, they live in our memories, and they show up in ways that we'll never understand."
