I sat there as my brother fussed over me.
I turned 18 last month. This year I am going to attend college. For once, I got a choice of studying outside instead of the usual tutors I have( they are a nightmare.)
I got a chance, so I took it. I chose to study in a college in Epiraz, situated at the border of Helean and Demon City.
Epiraz is also called Paradise Hill. It is the city of equality. There, it does not matter whether you are a alpha, omega or beta. Everyone is treated the same way. No omega is thought weak .
From when I was a child, I heard stories of Epiraz. I was happy when I finally passed the entrance exam. Finally to the college of my dreams.
Demon City is our neighbouring city. It is nearly as big as Helean. Their has always been a tension between our countries. There are stories that once Demon City and Helean were one big country known as Arcadia. But conflicts broke out which caused our cities to split. My mom was poisoned by one of the princes of Demon City. My father's brother, Jamie died in the war. Even though the war stopped for the time being, tensions were still high and it was a matter of time till another war broke out.
Demon City or Louisa, was the city ruled by Omegas. They were no normal omegas, but they were strong and amazing warriors. They hated our city because Helean was ruled by alphas. They thought that all alphas treated omegas like shit. So the living conditions of alphas in their city is very harsh. They are killed, tortured and raped. They say, this way alphas will know how much pain a omega feels. I don't agree. Not every alpha is heartless and cruel.
They hate omegas like my mom and brother because they have alpha partners. They say, having a alpha partner means surrendering to the fate of an Omega.
I saw a dark skinned girl peek and say,
" Hey, are you gonna stay here or get some breakfast princey? Come on now move! We don't have all day"
She threw her long grey hair over her shoulders and ran away.
That was my best friend and sworn sister, Emily. She was a beta, but had amazing healing skills. She was one of the junior doctors of the palace at such a young age. I loved her a lot. I practically grew up with her, I knew her since we both were 3. Both her parents were royal doctors and died in the war. She lived in the castle with us. Her sister, Eliza, was one of the senior doctors.
I walked down to the dining hall. I sat down beside Em and kissed her cheek and said,
" Good morning grumpy beauty."
She rolled her eyes and said,
" Good Morning butthead."
I dramatically gasped and put a hand on my heart and said,
" I called you beauty and I get insulted. Okay it's decided. From next day I'll call you witch."
She slapped my arm and continued having her breakfast.
Drake ruffled my hair and said,
" All ready for today?"
I nodded and continued attacking my bacon.
He turned to bro and pecked him on the lips and said,
" Car is arriving in half a hour. They need to get there before 12. The entrance ceremony begins at 3."
We finished our breakfast and maids got my and Emily's bags down.
I walked down to the royal garden and saw my father standing under a tree. He turned when he saw me walking toward him. He smiled.
My father had his position written in his features. His hair was bluish-brown and sleek. He had high cheekbones and sharp eyes. He woke spectacles, but it didn't make him look any less handsome. His face was like a piece was art. One of his eyes were green like mine and another was brown.
His face made him look like he was cold and cruel. But he was anything but cruel. He was a really loving father.
He spread his hands and hugged me. He smelled of wood and carnations. He said,
" Ready for college?"
I nodded and said,
" Yeah. Thanks for coming, though. It means a lot."
He smiled and said,
" How could I not send my son off to college? You and your brother grew up so soon. You mother would be very proud."
His eyes filled with joy and happiness as he thought of my mother. One thing I knew for sure, Dad loved mom a lot.
I turned to see Emily walking down the stairs wearing a dress. Wow. She must take this college thing a lot seriously if she wears a dress today.
Em hardly wears dresses and skirts. She is kinda tomboyish, but her warm eyes ruins her 'mean' girl image.
She bowed to dad and said,
" Come on, we will be late for the entrance ceremony butthead!!"
She covered her mouth and blushed when she realised dad was still there. She said,
" Um...your...majesty...um..sorry"
Dad calmly said,
"I went temporarily deaf and did not hear what you said to James."
Emily grinned at dad and turned to me. I sighed. Emily was dad's favorite niece(not blood related) and she got away with everything. He didn't have a daughter, so Em kinda filled up the position.
I waved goodbye to dad and walked to the driveway. Drake and brother was standing there. I helped load the luggage at the back of the limo. I turned to brother. He was sniffling slightly and his eyes were red. My typical emotional pregnant brother.
I hugged him and his slight sniffling turned to full blown sobbing. He has been really emotional recently due to his hormones. After 10 mins, he stopped crying and pulled away.
He said,
" Take care!!! Don't forget to brush your teeth, take a bath, eat four meals a day, study properly, practice fencing, change your clothes....blah blah blah"
I turned and kissed Roman and Greece's cheek and hugged Drake.
I got in the car and sat beside Emily. I waved as the car moved out of the driveway. I put down my hand and watched as the castle became smaller and smaller until it was no bigger than a dot. I turned and sat straight and smiled sadly. I would miss my wacky royal family.
