On Either Side of The Ocean

Chapter 12

SIMON'S POV:

I smiled at Emily and said,

"Simon Styx, Crown Prince of Louisa. Good to meet you Emily."

She burst into giggles. She turned towards Julian and Laurier. They both introduced themselves.

I saw that weird look in Laurier's eyes again. He was staring at Emily so tenderly when she shook his hand. Julian looked at them and gave a knowing smile,while I stood there, confused like hell.

We followed Emily towards the alpha prince's room. But then I noticed, we were not going towards the room but the.... cafeteria....?

I gave Emily a confused look. Maybe she didn't understand how bad he looked, his shirt stained with blood. Yes, that must be it. So I said,

" Um....actually....shouldn't we go to his room? His wounds were really bad..."

She simply nodded and said,

" I know "

"Um..."

I muttered.

She turned towards me and gave me a little smile. She said,

" Believe me, I do. Thats why I am going to the cafeteria to buy him breakfast. And get myself some too. I can't treat him without having any breakfast! Besides he won't die if we are a few minutes late."

She calmly walked to the cafeteria and brought some buns. She opened the packet took one in her hand and offered us the packet . I politely declined. I get that we were on slightly good terms now but I don't think we are at the stage where we start sharing food yet.

She didn't look offended. She simply shrugged and took a bite of her bun and slowly chewed.

Then a small thing clicked in my head. Did she say she was a JUNIOR HEALER?????

" Did you just say you are a Junior Healer!?"

I asked, surprised.

She simply nodded.

I gaped at her .

She finished her bun and said,

" Yes. I am a junior Healer. My elder sister is a senior Healer. Why?"

It was Laurier who spoke now.

" Because you are only 18. Our junior healers are above the age of 30."

She shrugged and said,

" Age doesn't really matter back in Helean. It depends on who is the best. I have a lot of experience too, afterall I got my title back when I was 16."

She tapped her circlet and smiled.

I stared at her in awe. Woah. Junior Healer at 16.

" What's your major??"

Laurier asked suddenly.

I looked at him surprised. Why was he so chatty today??

" Medicine and Healing" she said.

" Oh, mine is Poison and Medicine" Laurier said with a small smile.

And then the two geeks started talking about what two people addicted to medicine, healing and poisons can talk about.

I was really curious about something. I turned towards Emily and said,

" Why was the alpha prince bleeding? I couldn't have stabbed him, I was too weak. Then who could have??"

Emily looked at me and gave me a sad smile.

She said,

" He did that so that he would not lose control and harm you in anyway. "

I nodded. I felt uncomfortable. I was not used to oweing anything to anyone. And on top of everything, I literally owed my life to the alpha prince.

But there was something else that was also bothering me. There was something I had to say, alphas were NOT weak. And he was literally the alpha prince. I am sure he is not weak. So a few stabs won't make him that weak. Why was he so weak and tired then?

I bit my lip and debated whether I should ask the question or not. Finally I decided that I would.

I asked her,

" Um...why was he so weak then? He wouldn't become so weak just because of a few stabs..."

She turned towards me and her eyes searched my face. She finally sighed, turned away and said,

" I might as well say you. You already know half of it."

She pressed her palms together and said,

" Omega phermones always have a weird effect on James. It's almost like he is allergic to them. Almost. Because his body has a reaction a lot worse that a allergic reaction when he comes in contact with phermones. He doesn't feel the pain at first, but when his body loses contact with the phermones, he begins to understand. His body becomes weak. It does not end there. Sometimes he even vomits blood. His body starts aching as  if each part of his body is being torn apart and then put together with needles again. His body temperature goes up. Last time such a thing happened, he nearly died. The only phermones which does not affect him are his brother, Prince Jonathan's phermones. They calm him down, not give him pain. It might be because of the poison in his blood, which is embedded in his cells. His mother was a omega-alpha, which might be another reason "

I felt terribly uncomfortable now. It was my cousin who had poisoned the queen of Helean.

But she didn't say the matter of poisoning with any contempt in her voice.

And on top of everything, why did she say me such a important thing??? I was the crown prince of Louisa. I wasnt exactly their bestie was I?

I looked at her and said,

" Are you not scared that I would spread this secret. Or even worse, tell my country or my father?They might use this against Helean."

She gave a odd look and a small smile. She said,

" Prince Simon, you owe James a favour for saving you ,don't you? Keep this a thing between yourselves and as a favour. Then you won't owe James anything."

I said,

" What if oweing him a favour means nothing to me? What if I still spread it?"

She gave a small chuckle and said,

" It matters to you Demon Prince, it matters a lot to you. You don't like the idea of oweing something to James. It has been worrying you a lot. Demon Omegas are proud creatures, they hate when they owe something to anyone. "

I looked at her unblinkingly. Then I finally smiled and raised my hands and said,

" Okay I give up"

She smiled in triumph and turned and continued her walk.

We finally reached the alpha prince's room. Emily turned towards us and said,

" So I guess I misunderstood you. You all are okay I guess."

We smiled at her.

She turned and quickly typed the password and opened the door.

She turned towards us and said,

" Could you all please sit in the couch. I'll go to bedroom and check if he is still alive or not."

We three awkwardly sat on the couch, stiff and rigid. Never had I ever imagined I would be sitting here in the alpha prince's room. But I guess everything depends on fate.

I winced when I heard Emily shouting in the room. I smiled weakly and looked at Julian. Looks like the alpha prince also has a best friend who loves to shout at him.
