emilarco - FIRST

Emily woke up as the rays of the sun is hitting her face. It's been tiring the past few nights, but she wouldn't trade her life now to anything. Without opening her eyes, she placed her arm on the space next to her only to find it empty. She peeked and confirmed that she is alone in the room. She sat up and check the clock on the wall, it's already past eight in the morning. She definitely overslept this time. She was about to stand up and start her day when the door opened and walked in the guy that stole her heart more than twenty years ago.

"Good morning, Mahal! Breakfast in bed." Marco greets her and placed the food tray on top of the bed. She smiles at her husband's sweet gesture.

"Thank you, Marco! Hindi mo naman kailangan gawin ito eh." She tells him back. Marco has been nothing but caring towards her the past few months and to say that she is enjoying is an understatement.

"Ayos lang, Mahal. Alam ko naman na pagod ka nitong mga nakaraang linggo." He says and starts putting a napkin on her lap.

"Ikaw rin naman, Marco. Sana hindi ka nagpakapagod para lang magluto."

Marco chuckles. "Wag mo akong alalahanin. Tinulungan naman ako ni Manang Henya kanina. Kain na!"

They started devouring the food in front of them. It's been a while since they both had a decent breakfast together. Managing two companies and the household is not an easy thing to do, at the same time, Emily misses her son, Daniel, most of the time.

"Anong gusto mong gawin ngayon, Mahal? Gusto mo bang magpunta sa mall? Or punta tayo sa burol para manood ng sunset? Or kumain tayo sa paborito mong restaurant? Or manood kaya tayo ng sine? Ang tagal na nating hindi nagagawa yun."

She smiles at Marco. There are days when she feels guilty that twenty-four hours is not enough for her to squeeze in a few solo moments with her husband, and yet, you wouldn't hear any complaint or pagtatampo from Marco. He would always support her in anything that she would like to do.

"Sigurado ka ba na gusto mong gawin yan? Hindi ba at marami kang ginagawa sa opisina? Atsaka paano si –"

"Emily... today is a special day. I want to spend my day with you... kaya kung ano man ang gusto mong gawin, yun ang gagawin natin. Besides, Johanna can take care of the company, and Mama and Tita Henya are here to help us with whatever we need."

Emily sighs and agrees. She needs to return the favor to her husband and spend time with him, too. She misses him. She started to think of what their day would be like and discussed it with him which Marco agreed on.

"Excited na ako, Mahal. Thank you." Marco says.

"Ako din. Pasensiya ka na kung hindi kita naalagaan, ha?" she places her palm against his cheek and caresses it.

Marco smiles. "Walang problema, Emily. Let's get ready na?"

Emily nodded and as they were about to head to the shower, they hear a knock against their bedroom door and a loud cry.

"Marco? Emily?" It's Manang Henya. Her voice is a bit panicky.

"Ano po yon, Tita?" Marco answers back and opens the door. Emily stood up as well and went near the old woman that looks worried.

"Pasensiya na kayo, pero kanina pa siya iyak ng iyak eh. Baka nagugutom na."

Emily smiles as she looks at their two-month-old son, Daniel. She takes him in her arms, started swaying him slowly, and in an instant, the child calms down.

"Naku, mukhang ang amoy ni Emily ang hinahanap ng anak niyo." Manang Henya says.

"Sige po, Manang Henya... Salamat po sa pag-alaga sa kanya. Ako na po ang bahala kay Daniel."

"O sige. Tawagin niyo lang ako kapag may kailangan kayo."

They both nod and as Marco closes the door, Emily sits on the rocking chair to start feed their newborn baby.

Emily is just head over heels with their baby and this new chance that they got after so many years, brings her so much joy. She may miss her first born but having their baby now is a whole different experience for the couple.

Marco couldn't help but stare at the scene in front of him. His wife and son are his inspiration. He smiles as he walks near them, pulling a chair beside Emily, and plants a soft kiss on both of their heads.

"Mahal?" Emily says in a soft voice.

Marco looks at her and he already knows what her eyes are saying. Looks like not one of their plans for the day will push thru and it's totally fine with him. He nodded in agreement, telling her that he already knows what she is thinking. "Sige, dito na lang tayo sa bahay kasama itong si gwapo. Mukhang ayaw maiwan ni Papa and Mama eh."

"Thank you, Mahal."

"May ibibigay pala ako sayo, Emily." Marco says and stood up to get something from the side drawer. He showed her a box and in it is an elegant pair of earrings for his wife.

"Marco... ang ganda..." Emily mumbles in disbelief and looks at him. "Pero wala akong nabili na regalo para sayo..."

"Ikaw at si Baby Daniel ang pinakamagandang regalo para sa akin..." he says. Emily gives him a warm smile. She reaches out to him to plant a kiss on his lips.

"Happy Anniversary, Mahal..." he greets her as they pull away.

"Happy First Anniversary, Marco. Mahal na mahal kita."
