chardawn - EIGHT YEARS

Richard just finished posting some promotional materials for his youtube channel and decided to open his twitter account. It's been a while since he opened it and besides, it's a slow day, he might as well log-in. Well, there are tons of notifications that felt like his phone is going to explode because of it. He randomly scrolled and saw a specific tweet that caught his attention and clicked that.

"Cute.", he says to himself and decided to message the person who tweeted that.

Richard smiled after sending that message. He checked the time and took note of the ten minutes that she requested, wondering why he needs to wait before calling.

Excited to talk to her, Goma? Maybe she's in a middle of something!

He decided to check his twitter again while waiting for the time when his phone rang and made him smile seeing her name flashing on the screen. He picks it up immediately.

"Hello?", he greets her.

"Hey! What's up?", Dawn says.

"Akala ko ten minutes?"

"Well, I was able to finish my task in less than ten minutes. So, what do you want to talk about?"

He chuckles, "Nagmamadali ka ba?", he asks.

She giggles back, "Hindi naman. Nakakagulat lang na gusto mong mag-usap so baka lang may importante ka na sasabihin."

He nods as if she can see him. "Wala naman...", he says. Namimiss lang kita. He wants that but of course, he didn't.

"Slow day?", she asks him.

"Medyo. It's a Sunday.", he answers. He tries not to do so much work on weekends and spend time lazing around the house.

"So, how are you?"

"I'm well, Dawny."

"Obvious nga eh.", she blurts out that made his brows crease.

"What does that mean?"

"Well... you kinda.. you know.."

"What? Sabihin mo na.. alam mo naman you can tell me anything.."

He can feel her rolling her eyes even though he can't see her. "Well.. I just want to say na kung pwede, bawasan mo kakakain mo diyan.."

He laughs. "I know. Dami na ngang nagsasabi.. but what do I do? Ang sarap kumain!", he explains. He knows this because even her daughter has been asking him to lose a couple of pounds but the political life is kinda not helping him do some other activities.

"Hay nako, you're not getting any younger, so take care of yourself, Goma.", she says that made him smile. Between the two of them, she's always the health conscious one.

"But I have a show naman kasi every week plus ang sarap ng pagkain talaga dito sa Ormoc." He hears her sigh and he knows what that meant.

"Pero sige. I will listen to you na. I will watch what I eat. Okay na ba yun, Taleon?", he says to at least make her feel better.

"Okay. Good. Be healthy lang kasi."

"Sige, enough about me. Ikaw? Kumusta kayo diyan?", he asks. He knows Manila and Ormoc has a different set of rules and it really is scary to leave the house. He just does because of work but knowing Dawn, who is paranoid, she'll stay put at home.

"Well, I do biking around the village when I can, just to get some sun, and the usuals.. Needlework and online classes of the kids."

He chuckles, "I saw that post. Buti na lang malaki na si Juliana at di ko na kailangan pagdaanan yan. Kaya mo pa?"

"I take it as a challenge. At least I get to review with the kids.", she says.

She kept telling him how different the lessons are during their time and how she needs to adjust in teaching the kids according to the school standards. She kept babbling how she needs to stay up late with the kids and help them with whatever they need. He, in return, told her about his projects in the city and how they need to do some protocols to make sure everyone is good and safe.

"Dawn?", he says after they share stories on what keeps them busy.

"Hmmm.."

"It's so nice to catch up with you.", he smiles after saying that. It's really been a while since they talked and it was good that they did.

"Me, too. Yun lang ba kung bakit ka tumawag?"

He nodded. "Yes. Medyo nabahala lang ako sa mga nakita ko sa twitter. Daming bumabati sa atin. Akala ko naman kung ano.."

She giggles again, "I know. Mga hindi na ata sila naka-move on sa Walang Hanggan!"

"Ang sabihin mo, kay Marco and Emily sila hindi naka-move on. May mga pakulo pa sila!"

She laughs. "Oo nga eh. Ang tiyaga nila to do that for us. We are so lucky with our fans!"

"We do! I just hope we can do a follow-up project after all this.", he says. He miss doing his first love which is acting so he looks forward to that.

"Oo nga eh. I miss working na rin! Sana my first project after this pandemic is with you."

"Sige, ako na rin. Yun ang wish ko!"

"Pero may isa pa akong wish, Gomz..", she says that made him curious.

"Ano yun?", he asks. Hoping it's something easy.

"Na sana you lose weight na!", she teases that made him laugh.

"Yes, yes! Masusunod na po!"

She giggles. "Anyway, I need to go, Gomz. I hear the kids calling me na."

"Alright, I kept you long enough anyway."

"Thanks for the call, Richard. I really appreciate it!", she says and he does, too. He appreciates the conversation that they had.

He smiles, "Anytime, Dawny! I'm just a message or call away!"

"Good bye! Ingat ka!"

"You, too! Bye!"

They both hang up and Richard goes back to twitter. He can't help but smile at all the tags and posts that he sees that he started liking some of them. He missed interacting with fans and hopefully, one of these days, he can do something for them. He stopped scrolling after a couple of more minutes so he can get some sleep. Then he remembered something that he wasn't able to do so he clicked his messages again and started to type.
