"Ma? Did you see my basketball jersey?" Miguel popped in the kitchen while she was busy listing down things that she needed to buy.
"It's in your cabinet, anak. I remember na dinala ko doon."
"Are you sure, Ma? Because I checked, wala po eh."
She sighed. Her son was in his twenties, and had his own place already, but whenever he came home for the weekend, he'd act like he was still a teenager.
"Anak, look with your eyes and not your mouth. Gagamitin mo pala pero hindi mo hinanap kagabi."
Miguel went near her and placed and arm around her. "Wag tayong masungit, Ma! Ngayon lang kasi nagtext ang barkada para magbasketball diyan sa village court.
"Ikaw talaga! Once a week na nga lang kita nakikita, doon ka pa sa barkada mo."
Miguel chuckled but kissed his mother's temple. "Wag na magtampo, Ma! Iba ka talaga kapag namimiss na si Papa eh, nagsusungit! Don't worry, he'll be home tonight from the conference and may kasama ka na dito sa bahay."
"Kayo naman kasi... sana pala hindi na lang kami nagpagawa ng malaking bahay kung iiwan niyo rin pala kami."
"Ma... dito pa rin naman nakatira si Timmy! Nagkataon lang na nagsleep over siya to finish their thesis. He'll be back tonight, too. Plus, Ate Cassie's family visits you also."
Sometimes, she still couldn't believe how time just passed by because the lives of her children was going by so fast in front of her. If only she could press pause and enjoy their company more.
She sighed. "Oo na. Sige na! I just miss having you around here." Miguel chuckled. "Hanapin mo na yung jersey mo. I need to go to the grocery before Papa comes home."
"Ganito na lang, Ma... how about I drive you to the grocery?"
She shook her head. "That's sweet of you. Pero hindi na, Miguel. Next time na lang. Enjoy your time with your barkada."
"Sure?" She nodded. "Okay, I'll see you at dinner." Miguel planted another kiss on her hair and left her to finish her task.
Tricia was going through the grocery aisles for an hour now. This was always her favorite time of the week. It's her therapy and me time because whenever she's at home, it's always about the kids and Vince.
She grabbed some frozen meat and went through the ice cream aisle to get Vince's favorite. From afar, she saw that there's only one pint left so she hurriedly walked over to get it. She was about to open the fridge's door when another hand also grabbed it with her.
"Sorry, Miss!" She turned her head to see a pregnant woman and a familiar face. The same woman was also surprised to see her.
She smiled. "Attorney Valiente..."
"Mrs. Ramos..."
Surprised was an understatement. She didn't know what to say and could only acknowledge her current status. "Congratulations! How long are you?"
Adie smiled at her and touched her belly. "6 months..."
Everything felt awkward between them, but she remembered that Adie was about to get something from the fridge.
"I think you need some ice cream? Go ahead. Mauna ka na."
Adie shook her head. "No... I wasn't looking kanina that you were about to get it. Ikaw na lang. I'll just find another flavor."
She called her when she was about to walk away. "Adie..."
Adie knew that it's been years since their last encounter, but she never thought that she'll hear her name from someone of her past.
