She wore scars as her best attire. A stunning dress made of hellfire.

She lunged for his throat.

Their swords clashed midway as they danced with death, twirling, clashing, their eyes blazing with fire. Reaper and Regime coordinated with impressive accuracy, their eyes keen and feet faster than a tiger's, but Reaper missed a block, and the clangs of metal made everyone wince. While all the maids were working, they sneaked glances filled with wonder at the two warriors, both incredible commanders of the rebellion's top ranked legions.

"Halt," the director's stern voice carried out as she ended the intense sparring session with a wave.

They stopped and bowed to each other, a sign of respect, before returning their swords to their scabbards. As they walked out of the area dripping with sweat, Reaper grinned brightly.

"You've gotten a lot better since we started Regime," he murmured, staring at the dusty path they walked on, "Raj would be proud."

Danika laughed lightly, choosing to ignore the heaviness in her chest while staring at the blue mountains ahead, "I can say the same for you Isaac."

They walked side by side quietly out of the training grounds and into the heart of the main rebellion camp, where Cain waited patiently for them to arrive. She studies his features, his sharp jaw, tired eyes, and creases followed by dark circles. Raj's death two years ago took its toll on every single person. Isaac had reluctantly accepted his promotion, but every day, Danika felt his sorrow for his lost best friend.

"Ah, the Reaper Twins," Cain said, slightly amused or sarcastic, Danika couldn't tell, "Glad you could join me today."

Danika hid a sly smile as she answered, "Actually, I need to head out to my station and check the barracks. Rumor's floating around saying the Lieutenant of Midway was spotted. I'm going to see if I can find that son of a demon."

Cain nodded and she dismissed herself after taking her dagger before walking out with broad shoulders and sharp eyes, not attempting to hear what the rebel leader and one of his archmages would discuss. She carried herself tall as some of the other male commanders gave her scowls or sneers. They weren't used to being ordered by a girl younger than them, but they all knew what would happen if they objected.

Danika had earned her title well, It would be such a shame to use it on them, she thought sarcastically, playing with the silver engraved ring on her index finger.

Once she reached the sables, she mounted her pearly white beauty. She led him out of the stables and into the pathway, giving him a nice pat on the neck. As they crossed the camp boundaries, she kicked Storm into a full gallop, knowing it'd take her twenty minutes to reach the next camp if they continued at this pace. Storm, having made this trip many times, had no issue in running faster than the empire's average war horse.
