Danika was ready to hurl this girl to the other side of the room.
Every time she asked the terrified waitress a question, she would either dodge it, or answer it in riddles, occasionally answering with a clever question Danika would need to dodge. It didn't help that her patience was wearing thin by the second.
Danika asked, "Do you know anything about the Lieutenant of Midway? Have you ever heard soldiers telling any information about him?"
"I thought you were the regional inspector, shouldn't you know," she answered without hesitation, her eyes portraying her fear but her posture contradicting it.
Danika clenched her hands before she could follow through with her thoughts. The girl was trained expertly-- by who, Danika had to find out.
She could reveal who she truly was-- but there was a high chance it would backfire on her... not that any of the other ways helped accomplish anything anyway. She dragged a long sigh before playing with the strand of hair that had come loose. The waitress looked at her expectantly, her eyes flashing with paranoia before she tucked it away.
"Alright Miss," Danika said as calmly as she could, "I'm sorry for interrogating you in such a rude manner. Truth be told, I'm a member of the Winged Crown Rebels and I wanted-- "
"You're what," the girl hissed, barely above a whisper, "Do you have any idea what the guards would do to you if you were caught?"
"Why do you think I'm dressed as a regional inspector," Danika retorted without humor, knowing very well what could happen, "I have no interest in screaming my title off to anybody."
The waitress snorted before settling down, her hands finding their way to the hem of her plain white shirt. She didn't look up to meet her eyes and seemed to be having an argument with herself.
"Alright," she softly said, "How can I help you then."
"If you couldn't tell, I was hoping to gain information on Midway's Lieutenant. Whereabouts, last seen location, etc."
"Three days ago, I saw someone that looked like him but instead of a male, I thought he looked more feminine. Perhaps it was just the lighting... everyone knows only men can be high ranking officers."
Danika almost let out a sigh of relief, At least they still believe I'm a male.
"Alright," she said, "I'm sorry for taking up your time unnecessarily, is there a way I can repay you for the information?"
"Just don't get caught," the girl said, "and change the empire's cruelty."
"I will," Danika murmured, "I'll try."
