❝In a fight, they're lethal. Around each other, they melt.❞

"Remind me again why you are going to town," Sera questioned, staring and Danika while she put together her attire and weapons.
"Because," Danika said in quiet pants, her lack of sleep kicking in as she mounted Storm, "I need to get my dagger back... and spy if possible."
"D, you're on seriously dangerous grounds," Sera said reluctantly, not willing to meet her eyes, "Just... promise me you'll come back."
Danika saw the vulnerability in her eyes, the fear for her. She sighed and slowly dismounted, facing Sera and gently taking her hands in her own.
"Sera," she murmured as she brought her close to hug her, "Never think I'll ever be on their side. I didn't join the rebellion for nothing."
And run away for nothing.
Sera silently cried while Danika gently stroked her ginger hair, murmuring words of comfort while keeping her engulfed in a warm embrace. After what seemed to be an eternity, Sera let go and wiped away her tears. Her hands went to the back of her neck and she unclasped a blue teardrop pendant.
"Ma said to give this to you when you would leave... better to say go back. She said something about destiny," she whispered hoarsely, "Please... don't let us down Regime."
"Never," Danika fiercely answered as she took the ends from her hand and clasped the chain around her neck. It stung in the beginning, the coldness seeping into her skin, but after a second, it was warm and started glowing a little.
Sera gasped and Danika looked at it in awe, "Woah."
"Go Regime," Sera whispered, a new determination blazing bright and clear as her gaze held the pendant, "I'll make sure everything runs smoothly."
Danika stared into her friend's eyes, memorizing the laughter that lit up the sky and her rage that could melt gold, knowing that she may be forever stepping into the lion's den. Sera must have understood because her eyes softened and she gave Danika a tentative smile.
"Go," she whispered, "Bring them down."
Taking one last look, Danika turned around and mounted Storm before kicking him into a full gallop. Some people waved to her with tears, aware this may be the last time they were seeing her. She responded to everyone with a slight smile, praying they didn't see her tears.
Storm leaped over the fence since the gate was jammed close because of the snow. His thundering footsteps echoed in the path as he ran faster towards Norton's main arena.
Danika narrowed her eyes as the chilling wind nipped her face. She couldn't even feel her turtle-neck coat as it whipped behind her, accompanied by her hair. Her weapons were hidden safely, not willing to show themselves in a relatively peaceful town.
