"That's interesting. Now, would you like to tell me the truth about where they really are?"
Jesy POV:
"Uh, what are you talking about?"
She can't find out the truth. She'd have no problem splitting us up and sending us away with the idea that she's helping us.
"Look, Jesy, I just want to help you girls. Plus, it's not safe for four teenage girls to be alone in this world. Where are your parents?"
"Excuse me!" I didn't mean to yell, but what Tulisa is implying got to me. I can see that she didn't expect my outburst either. "I've taken better care of myself than my "parents" ever could."
"What do you mean?" Tulsa asked, taking a step closer to me.
"Those so-called parents you mentioned, the ones that are supposed to protect you, love you, and keep you safe, I never had them. None of us did. Except for Jade, but the universe couldn't let her be happy."
I didn't even realize I was crying until Tulisa wiped a tear from my face, not that it helped because more tears followed.
I felt Tulisa wrap her arms around me. I fought against it because I didn't want or need her help. Surprisingly, she didn't give up on me, which only made everything hurt worse and broke me even more.
Giving up my fight, I broke down in her arms. With her arms wrapped around me, I felt a love and security I'd never felt in my life.
So for the next half hour, I sat there in Tulisa's arms, clinging to her as if my life depended on it and crying more tears than I knew my body could produce.
Tulsa ran her fingers through my hair while whispering soothing words in my ear that soon started to take effect, and I began to drift off into a dreamless sleep.
Jade POV:
~at school~
We were in between classes when I saw my beautiful golden goddess at her locker. I just have to stop and stare for a while because how can someone so beautiful exist.
I watch her turn and catch me staring. She flashes me that bright smile I've come to love so much. It can light up any room and make me forget whatever problems I'm dealing with.
I'm so zoned out that I don't even realize Leigh's standing right in front of me until she taps me on the shoulder.
"Uh, Jade. Are you ok?"
"Y-yeah. I'm all good."
We fell in step next to each other on our way to our next class. Surprisingly, as we walked, she held my hand. Looking down at our conjoined hands, I found a sudden burst of confidence.
"Do you want to go out with me?" I blurted out before my mind could catch up with me. Once my mind did catch up, all of my previous confidence faded away quickly.
"Not like out out. Just a hang out together. Me and you together hanging out. Not like a date unless you want it to be. But it doesn't have to be. We can just go to the movies or something as friends but-"
Leigh's angelic laugh stopped me from rambling on. I turned to her as an undesired blush took over my face.
"I'd love to go on a date with you, Jade."
"Really?"
"Yeah. How about this Friday?"
"Sure, " I said as we stopped walking since we'd arrived at her next class. "Can't wait."
She kissed my cheek before quickly going into the room. I stood in the same place while others continued with their lives. The warning bell finally broke me from my trance, and I hurried down the hall to my next class.
