Perrie POV:
I've learned a lot about Jesy and Leigh since they've been with us.
I found out that you can never sneak up on Jesy. I tried to scare her once and ended up with her fist to my jaw.
Apparently that's how her father would beat her. He'd never hit her from the front. No, he would sneak up on her when she'd least expect it, like a coward.
I also learned that Leigh has really bad abandonment issues. Since everyone in her family left her behind, she sometimes feels like we will too. She still goes to the same diner she and her sisters used to meet at every Saturday at the same time, in hopes of running in to them.
We'd never do that though because we all know how it feels to not have a family, Jade especially. Jade and Leigh have gotten really close in the past few weeks since Leigh moved in.
I already knew about Jade's trauma. She says she's fine, but I know after a pretty stressful day she'll go to bed and dream about the crash again. Our first few days on the streets Jade would be up every night.
I'd always be there to hold her and bring her back to reality. Now that's Jesy's job. It's like she can sense when Jade isn't going to sleep through the night.
I consider Jesy as my sister and mom at the same time, if that makes sense. She's always there when we need her. Whether it's to dry our tears or congratulate us on doing well in school.
She's more of my mom than the woman who gave birth to me. I think the girls and I should treat her to something nice, as a thank you for all you've done.
"Perrie. Are you paying attention?" Ms. Bateman's annoyed voice cut through Perrie's thoughts.
"Sorry, Ms. Bateman."
"Perrie can you answer the question on the board?"
I stared at it for almost a minute. Why are there so many letters in math. I don't see why I need to learn this.
"No I can't. I don't see why this is important or why there are so many letters."
"Fine then! Arielle, can you help out Ms. Edwards?"
She answered the question perfectly. I just slumped in my seat and put my head down on my desk.
~1 hour later~
"Class dismissed! Perrie can you stay behind?"
I groaned on the inside, but put on my fake smile and walked to her desk at the front.
"Perrie I want to keep you after school today. I've noticed that you haven't been doing well in class. I don't want you to fail. Meet me back here after school. Well only be an hour or two."
"Alright, I'll meet you here after school after I tell my sister I need to stay."
She smiled at me as I walked out. I hated staying after school. That meant that one of the girls would have to stay behind and wait for me. Jesy never liked for us to be alone so she made us always go in pairs.
Jade POV:
I hate walking through the halls in between classes. There's always so many people just standing around as if they don't care. The ones that are moving, aren't going that fast.
Then there's Korey. I swear he's everywhere. Always lurking around each corner waiting to taunt me.
Today he was waiting right in front of my locker. I tried to blend in with all the other bodies surrounding me, but of course he still saw me.
