Perrie POV:
"I guess it's time I share my own story then."
Flashback:
I've always taken care of myself as best as I could. My parents, if you could call them that, were never around to look after me. They couldn't even bother to feed me. I'd always end up at Jade's house.
Her family was so nice and they were always around. You could see how much they loved each other. They treated me like I was their second daughter.
Whenever my dad was around he'd be so drunk or high he couldn't stand. He never was a violent man, but he did have his moments.
He'd beat my mother while I watched from the corner he forced me to stand in. She could never fight back because she was usually out of her mind with him.
The day Jade's family died was the day she came to live with me. I'd somehow convinced my parents to let her stay with us for the week.
I figured it would be nice to have each other. She'd keep me company during the lonely times and I would help her grieve.
One night we were sat in the living room watching one a Disney movie Jade had begged me to put on, when my dad stumbled through the door.
He took one look at us cuddled up on the couch and decided he didn't like it. He dragged me up by my hair and threw me out of the house.
He did Jade the same and tossed her out next to me on the cold, hard concrete.
"Never come back! You were never my daughter and I never loved you!"
His words hit me like a 20-pound brick. I dragged Jade away to hide out in our secret hideout.
We stayed there until dark and then we snuck back to my house to get a bag of our stuff. We knew my parents would be passed out. We had nowhere to go but at least we had each other and that's all we really needed.
"And we've been gone for 3 years. Never looked back and never saw them again" I finished.
By this point I hadn't realized that I'd been crying. Jade crawled off Jesy's lap and over to me to wrap me in her arms.
She dried my tears with the pad of her thumb and looked me in the eyes.
"We'll always stay together. No matter what, I'll always be here!"
I nodded and hugged her back, trying to convey my feelings since I couldn't find the words. Then Jade turned to Jesy.
"And now we've got Jesy. She'll look out for us. Now we're like a little family."
She pulled Jesy into our hug and we sat there like that enjoying each other's company until Jesy broke the silence.
"But how'd you hurt your ankle?"
"Oh! I sprained it walking through the woods at night. I couldn't see and didn't realize the tree root in front of me. It's not the first time but I'll be fine in about a week."
The older girl nodded and sat back from our hug.
"How about Jade and I go out and find some breakfast."
With that the two girls left me alone to think about everything that's happened in the past few hours.
We were just three broken kids that are somehow putting each other back together. We've lost our families but found a new one amongst ourselves and I couldn't be happier.
