𝐀𝐆𝐀𝐈𝐍𝐒𝐓 Noah's persistence that he was okay, Monet made sure that he went to the infirmary to get a proper check-up on all of his wounds before they set out for the incoming war. Monty scolded him for taking out his own stitches which left him with minor swelling—Monet joined in also. All Noah did was roll his eyes. "You love to put yourself through unnecessary stress, mate," Monty commented."Hey, before we got here, you weren't busy, so you're welcome." Noah contended. Monet scoffed at his silly excuse of a reply from afar.
"Yeah, thank you, Monet, for getting this stubborn bastard here. This could've gotten really infected. With what's about to come, the last person I want here is you." he continued. Noah cocked his head, resting it on his shoulder as he leaned further back on his hands. He softly grinned at the medic.
"Thanks, Monty." he sincerely said. He gave Noah a cheeky grin in return.
"I'm gonna dress you up and then you lot can get going." he stated, straightening and leaving the small, curtained area. Noah soon lifted his gaze to Monet who was fiddling with her fingerless gloves.
"And you," he spoke up, gaining her attention with a small smirk. Her brow rose and she joined him on the edge of the bed. "At this point, I think I owe you my life." She giggled.
"Okay, that's an exaggeration, if I've ever heard one. You do really like to test your limits, for someone so afraid of dying."
"Well, yeah, now that you've given me more to live for, innit? I've never been so happy with someone, you just give my life a little bit more meaning. I'm just excited for the moments I'm gonna make with you, you know." With their faces only inches apart, neither of them could bear to keep their eyes away from the other's lips. Noah softly chuckled, lifting his light eyes and whispering, "You've made me all soft,"
"I like you like this," Monet whispered back, her finger slowly tracing to sit beneath his chin, "I like that it's only for me." She drew him closer and just as they were about to kiss, Sasha threw the curtains open.
"Oi, oi—oh..." she bit her lip, as her introduction almost sent Monet flying. Zara awkwardly laughed, as Monty also stepped in. "Damn, so fucking awkward. Anyway, how are you?" Sasha laughed.
"So discreet, Sash." Noah smiled sarcastically, "Why are you guys here, aren't you meant to be out on the stakeout by now?"
"Thought we'd wish everyone a bit of luck." Zara lowly spoke, taking a deep breath and going to give Monet a light hug, she squeezed her back. Sasha plonked herself beside Noah, as Monty began dressing his cleaned wound. Noah chuckled lightly at the fact that her short legs swung at the end of the bed. "Plus, Eman got word from the north lookouts that Angelo is in Leyton." Zara continued.
"Okay, good. Monet and I will be heading out there tonight. The evacuations are done so this place is basically a ghost town. Angelo said that he'd told them the same plan, that I won't wanna be anywhere near Everwinter; essentially he's leading them there with the assumption that he's helping them kill Monet and I." Noah explained, Monty finished up and then handed him his shirt. He slowly pulled it on.
"It's mad that they were our own, you know," Monty wryly scoffed, bringing himself into the conversation.
"Mack has always liked to be in charge, it was just a matter of time, I guess." Zara answered, she flipped her short, black hair before she crossed her arms. "But he's still a really old friend, so it hurts a little. I think that's why I had the slightest bit of faith in him." she sighed.
Zara and Mackenzie had gone to the same sixth form college before the virus, almost ten years ago. They were close and she considered him one of her best friends, so it disappointed her that he was on the opposite end of what was good. Zara soon waved her hand dismissively, looking to Monet.
