𝐒𝐖𝐄𝐑𝐕𝐈𝐍𝐆 uncontrollably, she tried her absolute hardest to dodge the congregation of walkers that blocked her path. She missed three that threw themselves at the car and ran over one that smacked, face first, into the windshield, blurring her view with dark, oily blood. She grunted, her panic beginning to rise, as she tried to looking past the dripping blood to control the car.
Though she wasn't expecting the colossal herd of infected marching through the streets. She drove straight into it. Hitting a few and losing complete control, the car sped straight into the doors of a building. She shielded herself from the glass exploding around her. Thank God she'd put on the seatbelt.
When she opened her eyes, pushing away the airbag that popped open in her face, she looked through the cracked wing mirror to see the walkers moving towards the crash. She cursed. She grabbed her stuff in the passenger seat and booted the jammed door with her foot.
After a few tries, it opened and she frantically scrambled out—she had to get as far away as possible. The car was soon to blow. She shoved past the walkers that tried to grab for her, threaded her arms through her backpack and pulled out one of her katanas. She sliced through the walkers that began to surround her, but more continued to follow. She had landed at the centre of a horde.
She was cornered and backed up against the wall of a building, she glanced over her shoulder to look through the foggy glass of what looked like a hotel. A drastic idea sprung to mind.
She slashed her katana with her right hand, as she pulled out her pistol with her left, turning hastily and shooting the glass twice. It shattered before her and she dashed into the building, the storm of walkers following the sound.
She searched for a back exit behind the reception desk, to find it barricaded with the words 'THe DeAD Are HeRe' sprayed across it. She frustratedly grunted and ran for the stairs, her chest burned as she skipped over two steps at a time.
She was running out of options and she couldn't see any other way out but the roof. She made her way there.
As she reached the last flight of stairs, an explosion shook the building. The car had blown up and she knew she had to move faster. More were coming.
She burst through the door to the roof and slammed it shut, found a long piece of plank wood and jammed it beneath the door handle. It didn't take long for walkers to fight against it with all their might.
She circled the perimeter of the rooftop to see any means of escape, spotting her destroyed car alight in the side of the building, as well as the sea of walkers filling the streets.
She did her best to stop herself from hyperventilating, trying to convince herself that this wouldn't be her end.
Her eyes scouted the surrounding buildings and fell upon the adjacent Electronics store building a few metres away... it wasn't that far of a jump either. She continued to curse under her breath.
The banging on the door grew louder and more impactful. She mustered her courage and took multiple steps backwards. She was pulsating with adrenaline.
"Just jump, land and roll, come on," she mumbled. She took one more deep breath. She dashed towards the roof's edge, jumping onto the ledge and propelling herself over the gap.
Before she knew it, she was rolling onto the rocky ground of the next building, just as the door burst open and the walkers toppled out after her. She rolled flat onto her back and heaved with relief, trying to ignore the seething pain in her left arm.
She sat up and noticed that the hotel began to groan, a small fire had started by the flaming car and was beginning to set the walkers on fire. She muttered her thanks to God, as she got onto her feet and looked for a way to get off the building.
She searched for a ladder on the side of the building and was luckily able to find one, leading to an alleyway off the side of the street junction below. She hastily climbed down and jumped the rest of the way off. Crouched, she sprinted across the road and then pressed her back against the next building.
She huffed and tried to think of a game plan. She looked around to find anywhere worth going so that she wouldn't have to attempt to fly ever again. But her thoughts were cut short when she spotted a small, red light moving near her feet which intrigued her like a curious cat, it gradually rose up her body and flashed over her left eye.
It stopped at her forehead and her eyes met the holo sight of a sniper a few metres away in a window of the house atop a Domino's Pizza restaurant across the next street.
She ducked instantly as the sniper shot, just barely missing her and slapping the wall behind her. She stumbled as she ran, slipping into the slightly ajar door of an abandoned clothing store. She hid behind the cabinets and took a deep breath.
She was in such a panic that she had no idea what else to do. She placed her hand over her heart and tried to slow her breathing.
That didn't last long when a canister rolled past her. It began to release a foamy gas. She crouch-ran away quickly from the tear gas, covered her face and prayed not to lose her consciousness.
Though she hadn't made it far when she turned the corner towards the entrance she came from, the gunstock of a rifle hit her in the face, knocking her onto the ground.
She peered through her tearing eyes at the mask-covered man who was the last she saw before he knocked her unconscious.

I'm back and I'm better!
It's been a minute since I've written a book I'm passionate about, and finally I've got Poisoned Waters going the way I want it to.
My arse is here now, so enjoy the quarantine updates for the time being. These notes will be occasional so it don't mess up the flow of the story. :)~ 𝐠𝐥𝐝𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐧𝐬.
