Chapter Seventeen :

It was around eleven o' clock, the temperature had dropped to sixty-three degrees. Brantley and Caleb had ran inside the house to have sex, Piper had went inside the cabin to go talk with Tyler, O'Shay and Asher were in their cabin, and Ruby had went on a walk to clear her mind.

Toby : Well it's just me. My best friend is having sex, I can see his shadow through the second story window. I could see Caleb's hands around him, I swear I'm not attracted to him. I just get jealous when he's dating someone and has sex with them, and no I'm not slut shaming him. Brantley is a cute fucker and any guy would be lucky to have him. He cares so much about the environment and others. He has a big heart and- OH GOD! That looks painful. His face is against the window and I could see Caleb mounting him. I've seen enough of that.

Toby smirks and smiles as he turns around, walking towards the trees. He hums and starts to kick a pebble around the dirt and continues to talk to himself,

Toby : Asher. God, I can't believe he even exists. That son of a bitch, Rudy. Like how can you have two families? Asher seems like a great guy. The exact same kind of guy as Brantley. Both same height, same features, same birthmarks, I really hope they don't hate each other. O'Shay seems to have everything under control. He agreed that we should be the ones to tell Brantley, I just have to wait to see what Rub- Oh god. Ruby. It's not that I don't like her. I do. I love her, but I don't see myself dating her. I only see myself dating one person, only him, and that's-
Ruby : Hey stranger!
Toby. : Hey, you also doing some relaxing?
Ruby : Most definitely, I was just coming back to look for you.
Toby : Oh really? For what?
Ruby : I want to apologize. I know we agreed to stop but I wanted you, and I feel like I took advantage of you.
Toby : It's fine. I mean it's not fine, but it's whatever. I kind of want to tell you something.
Ruby : What's that?
Toby : I think you guys were right. I'm starting to have feelings I think, for him.
Ruby : Brantley?
Toby : Y-Yeah.
Ruby : You have got to be kidding me!
Toby : What?!
Ruby : Dude, it's bad timing. He's happy with Caleb. You had plenty of time to sweep him off his feet.
Toby : I know, but I wasn't sure about my feelings.
Ruby : What made you change your mind?
Toby : I think, I reached my climate when I was watching Caleb mounting Brantley from the window.
Ruby : Damn, what a weirdo.
Toby : It's not my fault they don't close the curtains when fucking.
Ruby : So are you going to tell him?
Toby : No, not yet.

Ruby shakes her head as they both reach to the lake. Toby sits on the ground and starts to throw pebbles at the lake while Ruby pets his hair.

Ruby : Your feelings for Brantley is fragile. I could see why. He's your best friend, you are always there for him when he needs you. Caleb is great and all, but there's no chemistry between them. They just met, it's a new flower sprouting in the garden. Brantley is interested in this sprout, but with you it's different. You can outgrow him and be the prettiest orchid there is. With you, Brantley's face lights up when he sees you. Not to mention, the countless times I catch him staring at your shirtless body. He's so happy with you and you make him feel safe. Don't ever give up the person you claim you love, if you have failed to demonstrate your love for them.

Toby : You're right. I'm going to tell him how I feel.
Ruby : Maybe you shouldn't, just yet. They're still having sex right?
Toby : Oh yeah.
Ruby : Wait, What the fuck is that?
Toby : What?
Ruby : Look, that! Who's that?

Ruby looks across the lake and sees a tall figure person with a cloak over their head, covering their face. Ruby starts backing away, as Toby holds her and tries to move her slowly. The figure, begins to walk around the lake and follows the two slowly.

Toby : Ruby.
Ruby : Y-Yeah?
Toby : Do you have a weapon or phone on you by any chance?
Ruby : No. I left my phone back at the cabins.
Toby : Okay. You're going to run for it. Luckily, we're not that far from the cabins. Just straight. Go now.

Ruby shivers with fear, as her heart begins to sink in and beats rapidly. She turns around, facing the trees and makes a run towards the cabins. The hooded cloak person, begins to speed walk towards Toby as he takes out a blade from the pocket.

Toby : Hey! Who the fuck are you?! Leave us alone! We got a gun on us!

The hooded cloak person stops and grabs the blade tight. Raising their arm, they throw the blade from within the distance between them both. Watching the blade land in front of him, Toby steps back and nervously pulls out a 9 mm pocket pistol from his back pocket, and shoots at the sky.

Toby : That was a warning! The next one will be in your god damn chest if you don't leave us alone!

The hooded cloak figure immediately stops and runs back to the other side of the lake. Toby shivers as he turns back and runs behind Ruby to the cabins. Hearing the gunshot, Ruby keeps running and turns around, and trips on the ground. Running into the trees, Toby finds Ruby on the ground and sighs,

Toby : If we were in a horror movie, you'd be that stupid bitch to die first! Come on let's go!
Ruby : Was that you?
Toby : Yeah!
Ruby : I didn't know you brought a gun.
Toby : I had to! I didn't know where we were going to be, so it's for safety, and good thing I brought it.
