Chapter Nine :

The next morning, Brantley wakes up and notices Toby organizing his clothes into a suitcase. They both smile at each other as Brantley realizes the time. He gets up and puts on his shoes and hears Mia's voice coming from downstairs.

Toby : Morning.
Brantley : Good Morning.
Toby : How did you sleep?
Brantley : Good, I see you're packing already.
Toby : Yeah, just in case we decide to leave immediately tonight. My mom's downstairs making breakfast.
Brantley : Okay awesome and excellent.

Later throughout the morning, everyone had just finished eating breakfast. Mia stands up to pick up all the plates and puts them in the sink. Dylan stands behind Mia as he hugs her and they both kiss passionate as Toby groans. Brantley smiles and laughs as Mia looks over at Brantley,

Mia : So a little bird told me that you met someone at the mall yesterday?
Brantley : Oh y-yeah. Um... It was a mutual feeling and I'm going back to meet him again. His name is Caleb and he's just, different than other guys.
Mia : How so?
Brantley : Well for starters, he didn't just want sex. He actually seems polite and super gentle.
Toby : That's why the rest of us are going to the ranch with him, so he doesn't try to hurt Brantley.
Dylan : Well that's really sweet of you son.

Brantley smiles as he hears his phone ring upstairs. He gets up and goes upstairs to grab his phone. Mia and Dylan chat about the job position that was offered by Rodolfo. Toby decided to put away his dish in the sink, as he stands close to their conversation.

Dylan : Rodolfo said that he will email me if I got the position in the morning. I've checked my emails and I still got nothing.
Mia : Nothing? Well let me ask if you did. I'm sure he will answer me.
Dylan : Honey, how do you know this man anyways?
Mia : Hm? Oh, I told you. He was a regular cust-
Dylan : No. Honey, how well do you know him?
Mia : I- I don't know what you're implying to.
Dylan : I think you do. When did it all happened?
Mia : When did what happen? Are you accusing me of sleeping with Rudy?
Dylan : Oh! It's Rudy now?
Mia : You're calling me a cheater now?
Dylan : It takes one, to know one.
Mia : Toby, go upstairs. Now.
Toby : Mom, I-
Mia : Now!

Toby gets infuriated as he turns to his father as he clenched his fists tight. He then looks at his mom then back to his dad, and confesses,

Toby : I saw mom kissing Rodolfo yesterday in the kitchen. I was upstairs with Brantley and I had came down to grab some water. I heard them both talking saying something about him offering you a job position.
Mia : Toby!
Toby : I'm not done.
Mia : You are certainly done!
Toby : But that man isn't just mom's special friend. What you don't know is that, that man is also Brantley's father. He is the piece of shit deadbeat father that walked out from his life. Brantley does not know that he was here last night, and I would very much like for him to not know either. So please stop talking about that man.
Dylan : His father? Oh god, that's even great. Something you both got in common, cheating on each other's spouses.
Mia : Oh please, you cheated on me with that woman from H.R.
Dylan : That was a couple years ago! You said we were fine throughout our couples therapy!

Toby sighs and begins to leave their argument as he walks back upstairs. He sees Brantley on the phone with someone as he hovers and watches Brantley pace back and forth.

Brantley : No, you're not understanding me. I told you I need to get away from all of this. I'm leaving and I'll be back whenever. Bye.
Toby : Everything okay?
Brantley : Yeah, just my mom. She was apologizing for yesterday.
Toby : Want to head out now? Meet up with the gang?
