8/10.

*Edit*

I have more to say now so i guess im writing more on this chapter.

I bought the manga, sadly i could only get the second volume that had like, most of the last chapters in it, so i read the first chapters online.

On this website i liked seeing the opinions people had about the manga. A lot of people preferred the anime, a lot of people preferred the original manga.

Personally, i liked the anime better. No hate to anyone who prefers the manga.

These are my reasons i preferred the anime:

First off, the side characters at the start have a way better role, and i find their characters to be more amusing and interesting than in the manga. In the manga, the side characters that rapped to miki and eventually became a bigger part in the anime, were actually arseholes that got into a fight with miki and akira at the start. Because they were side characters, they got the shit beat out of them. In my opinion, thats just kinda boring.

Secondly, there was homophobic/racist backround things that weren't fully out there and prejudice, but still stuck to me. For example, when ryo's love for akira came out in the manga, they said it was only possible because he was part woman. Also, they referred to black people as 'the blacks' which, if you didn't know, is a quite racist way to talk about a person race. It numbs them down to just their color. Not even black people. Just 'the blacks'.

Third off, they made akira's personality FULLY swap. And i know in the anime it swapped, but not to the extent in which it did in the manga.

They made him be a total bitch, and made him act really rude towards miki after he turned into a devilman. The worst part is, they wrote miki in a way that she was more attracted to him when he was rude towards her.

They made him a total asshole, but still made him miki's saviour? Makes no sense to me. If you wanna be rude to a girl then dont try and save her and be heroic and shit.

This presentation of miki is actually kind of a really bad representation of what a girl wants, and how to treat woman.

It encourages the stereotype that woman love to be pushed around and ordered and will just be submissive and totally ok with being borderline abused.

Although i love devilman with all of my heart, it's safe to say this is one of the few animes/manga's in which i prefer the fandom over the official work.

And by official work, im only referring to the manga.

Now, onto reasons why i actually like the manga, first of all, it actually confirmed Ryos love for akira cause im pretty sure in the anime it just said that ryo felt something for akira.

Second off, they gave miki more of a prominent personality. Now, her personality isn't completely good and its still kinda sexist (it portrays her as someone who cares a lot about her figure and someone who likes rude 'bad boys').

Though her personality wasn't that well written, it was there and way more noticable than in the anime.

In the anime she was just a big sister, a caring friend and the main character's crush. Like i guess she had talents and really did care, but then again, thats kinda just the bare minimum of a personality.

All in all, you have your preferences and reasons, and i have mine, now, GO WATCH THE SHOW!!!

 You wont regret it!!
