The Final task (p36)

Draco and I had found ourselves sneaking into the secret tunnels very often. Harry had seen us on the map and tried interrogating me about it but I simply blew him off and he didn't bother me about it again even though I could see it made him uncomfortable.  Fred and George on the other hand had found it their passion to tease me about Draco every time I encountered them. I had also given myself a couple of days to hang out with Cedric and Neville although not as much as before. But now it was mid-June and the final task was approaching so I was back to focusing on Harry and helping him get ready for the task ahead. 

I had noticed that Moody had been giving Harry a lot of hints about the task which I not only found odd but also quite unfair given that my best friend was also competing and he wasn't getting all this help. It was 2 days before the final task and the champion's parents had come to surprise their kids before the final task which they would come watch. Given that Harry's parents couldn't be here for obvious reasons, Molly and Arthur had come to see Harry instead which I found incredibly sweet of their part. The first day that they were in school I had spent the day with the Weasleys and Harry. The second day though Cedric had asked me to have a drink with him and his parents. 

"Cedric I'm nervous, I don't know why," I told him as we walked to meet their parents at the three broomsticks at Hogsmeade. 

"Oh, y/n don't be! you've already met my dad and I've told my mom all about you and they already love you," he reassured me. 

"Aww!" I put my arm around Draco's waist as we continued walking. 

Finally, we made it to the three broomsticks, we walked in and I saw Amos and Cedric's mother sitting at a far table close to the bar. Cedric and I waved, Cedric gestured for me to walk forward as he followed behind. 

"Hi, Mr. and Mrs. Diggory." I greeted them with a hug. 

"Hello dear, it's a pleasure to finally meet you." Mrs. Diggory told me in a sweet tone gesturing for me to sit. 

"Likewise," I responded taking a seat next to Cedric.

All four of us had a really nice time having drinks until it was time to head back. 

"Well thank you very much for inviting me. You guys have raised a wonderful person, I honestly don't know how I would survive without Cedric." I felt my eyes water at my own words as I looked at Cedric. 

He hugged me after. "Thank you. I don't know what I would do without you either," he whispered in my ear. 

"Thank you dear for being there for Cedric. You're a delightful girl y/n."

It was the day of the third task I was feeling incredibly nervous about what was about to go down during the evening. I had decided to give Harry and Cedric some space since I knew they would also be very nervous so I was spending the morning and afternoon with Neville. 

"y/n!y/n!" I heard Neville call me. 

"What?" I said snapping out of my daze. 

"I've called you like 50 times, you have to relax," Neville told me as we walked around the school. 

"I'm sorry Nev, I'm just nervous, this is the hardest challenge yet, what if one of them gets hurt?" I expressed my concerns. 

"y/n, they'll be fine ok? Just try to take your mind off things, it's my time anyways, we haven't hung out alone in a while." Neville whined.

"You're right, I'm sorry Nev, so what are we gonna do?" I asked getting excited now. 

"mmmm, well I was wondering if you wanted to come to greenhouse 2, I wanted to show you something." He told me and I could see he was excited.
