"Why are you here?" I asked, "I told you to not come here for a bit." I didn't want Alex to find her and make a scene.
"How could I leave my little sister to deal with that jerk alone" Nathaniel stepped to the side and she wrapped her arms around me.
I hugged her back taking in her familiar scent. I missed my sister. I had seen her a few weeks back but I still missed her the instant she left.
"Although I can see you're not alone" she looked between Nathaniel and I.
"I'm Nathaniel, a friend of Daenerys. It's nice to meet you" he extended his hand for her to shake.
"I'm Lotus, Dany's sister." She took his hand in hers and shook it.
"I'll get going. It's already pretty late"
"I'll walk you to the door."
"It was nice meeting you" Lotus waved as I walked with Nathaniel.
"It was nice meeting you too" he replied.
I closed the door behind me as Nathaniel and I stepped outside. "Thank you for stopping by."
He smiled and placed his hand on my head, "stay safe, if anything happens call me."

The pounding of my heart increased as I looked up into his eyes. I felt his hand slide down my head and back to his side
I nodded, "Drive safe." I didn't notice how out of breath I was till I let out those words.
Calm down, Daenerys.
"You should go back inside, it's cold."
"Bye" I said and opened the door.
"Bye, Daenerys." We smiled one last time before I closed the door.
I looked down to the grocery bag I was still holding with the candy he had brought me.
"So, who was he?" Lotus voice startled me making me turn around. I had forgotten she was here.
"No, we're going to talk about what happened with Alex. And why he is going all psycho."
"Fine but then you're going to tell me who that guy was"
I rolled my eyes but nodded. We walked towards the coach and got comfortable.
"I caught him cheating" she said.
"You caught him what?" I wasn't sure if I had heard her right. I knew Alex was a jerk but how could he cheat on my sister?
"He was with another girl in our bed" I saw her swallow and I knew that Lotus was trying her best to stay strong. That's the kind of girl she was. She held everything in and hardly expressed her feelings.
I grabbed her arm and pulled her into my arms. She froze for a moment but hugged me back and hurried her head in my shoulder.
"It's okay, I'm here for you" I ran my hand through her long black hair. I heard her let out a sob. "It's going to be okay. You have me" I hugged her tighter as she sobbed. Sometimes it was okay to break down and let everything out. Lotus needed this and after it I knew she would be stronger than before. This is just who Lotus is. She always gets back on her feet.

"So, Nathaniel"
I couldn't help the smile that made its way onto my face at the mention of his name.
"He is a police officer"
"The uniform totally did not give it away Dany"
I rolled my eyes at my sisters sarcasm, "anyways, I met him by accident."
"Okay and what was he doing here so late at night?"
I opened my mouth but stopped unsure of why he came, "I guess he came to see me." Warmth spread across my cheeks at the idea of him showing up just because he wanted to see me.
"Dany, how old is he?"
"He is seven years older than me" I recalled what Nell had said the day we met.
"So he is 25" my sister raised her eyebrow letting me know she was questioning his intentions.
"Yeah"
"You're 18" she stated.
"Yeah"
"That's a big age gap"
"We're not dating Lotus" A hint of irritation dripped onto my words. I knew the age was a bit too large but him and I have never done anything inappropriate. He has always been respectful towards me.
"I never said anything about that, it's just that I don't want you to get played. I'm just looking out for you."
I knew my sister loved me and she wanted what was best for me so I couldn't be mad at her. "I know, just get to know him. He is a really great guy."
"I'll give him a chance, but Dany I want to know something"
"What is it?"
"Do you like him?"
This was the first time someone asked me directly. It was a question I had avoided to ask myself. And now my sister that knows everything about me whom I tell everything has asked me this. The one question I had been avoiding.
