Chapter 31: Family Meetings Part 2

"Grab a drink don't be so tense" Narcissus says as the maid comes by with drinks.

"I don't drink." I reply.

"The poor girl isn't old enough to drink son" Roxane says.

Narcissus gaze shifts to Nathaniel, "how old is your fiancé?"

"Daenerys is nineteen."

Narcissus coughs as he chokes on his drink, "nineteen?"

I nod, "yes, I'm nineteen."

"I thought you liked older women" Narcissus commented, "now I see I was wrong."

Nathaniel glared at his brother once more before Noah speaks up, "Narcissus."

"Alright I'll stop."

"Forgive my brother Dany, he believes himself to be funny." Nell says.

"I am funny you just don't have a sense of humor" he said. Nell rolled her eyes taking a sip from her drink.

"Why don't you tell us how you met Elijah?" Noah asked.

I smiled remembering how we meant. "I crashed into his car."

"Really?" North asked. I nodded my eyes on Nathaniel who smiled and kissed the top of my hand.

"Why don't you tell us what you do for living?" Roxane asked.

"I don't work, I'm currently a college student."

"Really? What is your major?" Noah asked.

"Engineering" I replied.

Noah got cut of by Roxane, "and after you marry Nathaniel what is your plan? Or do you plan to drop out and have Nathaniel be the only one working."

I really don't think she likes me.

I felt Nathaniels hand tighten around mine. I smiled reassuringly at him before turning my attention to his mom.

"I believe that's between Nathaniel and I. After all we are the ones who are going to become husband and wife. But if you're so curious I plan on finishing my major."

Roxane seemed to be ticked off by my answer. She shook her head and drowned the remaining liquor in her glass.

"It's not curiosity but concern for my son. You see Daenerys, my sons don't have the best record on choosing good wives. My eldest son chose a girl who divorced him and took half of his money. And Elijah here almost married a girl who continuously broke his heart. So he doesn't have the best judgement when it comes to girlfriends."

"Mother" Nathaniel spoke.

"Enough" Maximillian voice boomed through the room before either Roxane or Nathaniel could get another word out. "Excuse their behavior, please, Daenerys."

"Why don't we show Daenerys around the city?" Nell asked smiling at me.

"Nell why don't you focus on not dragging attention to yourself for one moment?" Roxane snapped.

Nell faced Roxane her smile not fading but instead turning into a fake sweet one. "You're not my mother Roxane. Therefore you have no say on what I can do or say."

"I'm just looking out for our image. You tend to drag a lot of attention from the paparazzi every time you go out. It's enough damage to your image that you're an illegitimate child."

"My image? Isn't it towards your image? After all I'm not the one who got cheated on by her husband."

Roxane threw her glass drink across the room making it hit the wall behind my head and shattering into pieces. I flinched as I heard the noise and Nathaniel covered my head with his hand.

"Crazy b*tch" Nell let out.

Roxane stood, "you better watch your mouth bastard."

"Mother" North warned as he stood to grab his mother's arm.

Nell smirked and ran a hand through her long red locks. "No wonder Elijah and Nick got away from here. They couldn't stand having such a psychotic mother as you."

Roxane scoffed pulling her arm from North's hold and walking towards Nell, "at least their mother didn't abandon them for money."

"I prefer that then to have a slut of a mother like you."

I looked away as I saw Roxane slap Nell. The boys all stood and ran towards their mother. Noah stopping Roxanes hand from slapping Nell again. North stood in front of Nell blocking her from Roxane view. Nick was by Nells side pushing her hair to one side to get a view of her red cheek. Narcissus was at the other side of Nell holding her arm.

Nathaniel held the other arm of his mother preventing her from moving. Maximillian intervened making them all move away. He face Nell who turned to look at him meeting his eyes.

Everyone was silent waiting for him to say something but instead of saying anything he raised his hand and slapped Nell. "Don't talk to your mother like that."

Nell kept quiet and stormed out angry.

"Honey" Roxane called out to Maximillian. He turned facing Roxane now. He grabbed her arm harshly pulling her closer to him. He grabbed her face with his other hand.

"Don't ever lay another hand on her. Everyone in this rooms knows she isn't wrong. Know your place if not I'll be forced to put you in it."

Maximillian let go of her making her stumble back. He left the room without another word.

The guys all seemed angry. At what I wasn't entirely sure. A lot had happen to be able to decipher at which event caused their anger.

Narcissus was the first to break the silence, "welcome to the family Daenerys."
