A Message from Father

Christmas at the Crabbe's was much more laid back then Christmas at the Malfoy's. There was no expectations to be perfect. I didn't have to be anyone than what I really was. Most importantly, there wasn't' a stupid Ball I would have to dress up for! And no Fyre-Whiskey to tempt me. Everything was nice and simple.

On Christmas Day, Charlotte made a small dinner for the four of us. Herself, Vincent, Wyatt, and myself. Afterward we all went into the living room to open presents. Vincent quickly distributed the gifts that had been sitting under the humbly decorated three. When all of them were handed out, we started to open them, starting with the ones from the people that weren't there.

To my surprise, I found that Draco had actually gotten me something. Whether he sent it himself or if Lucius made him send it, I didn't know, but it was still a nice gesture. And, unlike last time he had sent me a gift, I could actually wear this. It was a small, round pendent, almost the size of my pinky nail. It was shinny and silver, with an 'E' delicately etched into the center in a fancy script. I couldn't deny that it was beautiful. As much as I couldn't stand him I would have to say thank you. It must of cost a fortune, not that money mattered much to them anyway.

Perhaps it was meant to be a peace offering. After all, ever since the breakup we hadn't been on good terms. Maybe now he wanted to patch up the hole in out friendship. Since we were both Death Eaters, we were on the same team. There were times we would have to be in the same room, and work together. Why not make it easier by getting along?

"That's pretty." Chrolette commented.

"Yeah." I put it down beside me. Vince looked over, but Wyatt blocked his view.

"Hey, Vincey! I think Malfoy is trying to steal her back!" He exclaimed. Vincent's face began to turn red, but I couldn't tell if it was from anger or embarrassment.

"Shut up."  He mumbled, turning his back to his brother and picking up another gift. I did so as well.

We went through all the other presents, then went on to the one's from the Crabbe's. Vince got me a wonderful model of the solar system. The planets gracefully orbited the small sun in perfect position of where they'd be in in real life. The planets even spun on their correct axis! It was perfect! I quickly laid it to my side and hugged Vincent.

"I love it. It's perfect."

"I'm glad. It's hard to shop for you." He laughed and picked up a package that was from his brother. He opened it to reveal a light colored bow. Vincent shifted it from one hand to the other, eyeing it curiously. "What is this made of? Ivory?" He tapped the body of the bow.

"You're close." Wyatt said matter-of-factly. "Deer antler." My jaw dropped.

"Are you joking?" I exclaimed.

"Nope. It's antler, I promise." He smiled a sly grin. I frowned and crossed my arms, upset that an animal was killed just for it's antlers.

"This is amazing!" Vince said. "How did..." He trailed off when he saw how upset I was. "Come on, Ellie. It's only the antlers."

"Yeah, Ellie." Wyatt mocked. "It's only the antlers from the poor, little, innocent door. he wasn't using them. He's not using anything now." He laid back and put his arms behind his head. I knew he was only trying to make me angry so I quickly wiped them away.

"Shut up!" Vincent warned.

"Why? I'm just telling the truth!"

"Boys!" Charolette stepped in. "Stop it! Act like you have some sense. Or at least pretend to love each other." The siblings shot each other annoyed looks before turning their backs to each other. She stood up. "I'm going to bed. Do not fight." Then she left us alone. We sat in silence. Finally, I got up and gathered all of the crumpled wrapping paper and took it to the rubbish bin in the kitchen. Seeing that it was full, I pulled the bag from the bin and carried it into the living room door way. The only person there was Wyatt.
