I came home with the book and a sore scalp. Like last time, she decided that I needed my hair braided...and my nails painted... and make up. She tried to transform me into a sparkling, proper young lady, which was a useless effort. It was like gluing jewels onto a piece of coal; under neath it was still just an ugly chunk of mineral. When I told her that, she laughed, arguing that if you put enough pressure onto me, then I would turn into a diamond. Stupid optimist.

When I walked into my sitting room, I was shocked to see that Vincent was there, talking to Uncle Severus. Both of them almost fell out of their seats when they saw me.

"Why did you let her do that to you?" Uncle Severus asked as Vincent exclaimed,

"What did she do to you?!"

"She decided that I needed to be pretty." I sneered, sitting on the floor next to Vincent's feet.  He hurriedly got up and offered me his chair. I refused. I guess he felt bad about it, because he slid into the floor beside me. Orion got up from Uncle Severus and curled up between us. "Please tell me you don't like it."

"I don't care what you look like, Ellie." Vince warmly smiled. I glared at him. "But I don't think it's you. Although Sarah Beth thinks so, you don't need this stuff to be pretty." He pushed some of my hair out of my face. I blushed. "You're already pretty."

"So what are you doing here?" I quickly changed the subject and pulled the hair out from behind my ear.

"Wyatt is driving me crazy!" He leaned his back against the chair.

"Doesn't he do that anyway?" I asked, scratching Orion's chin.

"Yeah, but it's worse then usual. With Mum moping around and Dad gone, Wyatt's taken advantage of the opportunity. This morning, I went hunting-"

"Oh." I frowned. He stopped for a moment.

"Sorry, I know you don't like it. But that's not the point of the story. I went hunting, but when I came back, all of my clothes were out of their drawers and closet and thrown all over the floor!

"He didn't!"

"Oh, no. That's not the end. When I yelled at him, He said that I couldn't do anything about it, but pick it up!" He exclaimed. I could tell he was trying to hold back fury that was reserved for his brother. He was weird about his room the way I was about my bed. Actually, about his stuff in general. It really upset him when people moved his stuff from where he put them.

"What did you do?"

"Pick it up. Then I left."

"Are you staying here tonight?" I questioned. He shrugged. I looked at Uncle Severus. "Is he?"

"As long as his mother doesn't care." He replied.

"She won't. " Vincent assured. "All she does it sit in her room all day."

"She's worried about your father." Uncle Severus explained.

"I know, but something has to be done about Wyatt."

"What else has he done?"

"What hasn't he done." Vincent pitifully laid his head in my lap, forcing Orion to go to the other side of me. I looked down at him.

"It'll be fine." I assured. He closed his eyes. I could tell by his face that he was thinking thoroughly. "You do know the meeting it tomorrow?" I tried to lighten him up.

"How could I forget." He opened one eye to look at me, then closed it again.

"What concern of it is his?" Uncle Severus sat up a bit straighter, his voice sounding a bit more on edge. "He is not in the circle."
