Why did she have to be back, he'd prefer if she'd just been sick the remainder of the year, but alas, here she was, and she was opening her mouth.
"So, how was your weekend?" Lilith asked grinning
"It was wonderful, you should try getting sick more often," Tom said, sitting down
'Did you miss me,?" she asked drawing out the "e"
"No,"
"Ah, I figured," she huffed. Avery soon entered the classroom and sat down on the other side of Tom. Lilith looked at him rather confused."Who in the world are you?" she asked. Avery was startled by the question for two reasons, he hadn't seen her there, and two, why she didn't know who he was, most people at least had some idea as to his importance, as he was pure of blood and that gave one a substantial amount. Despite his pride being slightly hurt, he walked over towards her to introduce himself.
"I'm Cyril Avery, and you are?" he asked extending his hand
"Lilith Umber, nice to meet you, Cyril," she said as they shook hands. She had quite a firm handshake.
"And to you as well Lilith," he said as he made his way back to his seat. He'd never really seen her before, he'd seen Tom yes, but not Lilith which he found odd because she was rather loud from what he could tell so far.Dumbledore cleared his throat and began his lesson. "Today, you all will be attempting to transfigure a whistle into a pocket watch, remember to use all your senses, though smell and taste really won't play much of a factor here, though I guess you could taste it if you truly wanted to, anyways with that I leave you to it." The class briefly snickered at the last part.
Lilith was quite gifted when it came to transfiguration, one of her best subjects in fact, though that was likely because of how much she used it in her daily life. It seemed that forgetting her quills had benefited her greatly, though she had never attempted anything with a pocket watch so perhaps it would be more difficult.
She concentrated and imagined the whistle, its shape, luster, and texture, then the pocket watch. While trying to concentrate she thought about her dad, he had a pocket watch. It was shiny gold and connected to his suits, mum thought it made him look classy, though Lilith just thought it was fun to mess with, and as such was often scolded for making it read the wrong time. In the midst of concentrating on the wrong thing, she remembered what she was supposed to be concentrating on, transfiguration.
Quickly she whispered the words metallum commutationem, waved her wand, but alas, nothing, it was frustrating. She tried again, still nothing. Was she so distracted that she didn't even realize it? At this point, there was only one thing left to do...
"Tomm, it's not workingg," she said shaking his shoulder. Tom looked at her annoyed, which would stop most, but still, she persisted.
"Tom, Tom, Tom, It's. Not. Working. Help. Me," she whined still shaking him.
"Lilith, Lilith, Lilith, no," he said flatly as he moved her hand off his shoulder.
"Please Tom, pleasee," she said as she resumed the shaking. Tom bit his lip and took a very deep breath.
"Fine, now what could you possibly be misunderstanding that requires my assistance," he said rolling his eyes."Well..." Lilith started "There was nothing in particular really I'm just finding myself unable to focus, also if I'm doing something wrong aside from that I know you'll be able to help because you're better than everyone else at this since you're really really good at everything," she said as she looked at him. He straightened his back at the rare compliment from the girl.
"I suppose I could attempt to help you, it's not like anyone else could anyways, even if you don't know what in the world you need help with," he said, still somewhat perturbed.
"Thank you, so could you please walk me through it,"
"I suppose," he started "Okay, so, you know the wand movement right?"
"Right," she nodded
"Show me,"
"Okay," Lilith said, waving her wand.
"Was that any good?"
"It looks about right, but do it faster,"
"Got it," she said doing it again
"Better?" she asked
"Much,"
