A Sugary Mess

Tom had eaten all the sweets he'd likely want for a long time, but Lilith, Lilith was still going
She was currently consuming Bertie Botts Every Flavor Beans. Sometimes looking pleased and other times she looked up with her face scrunched looking utterly disgusted, then she'd pull out a tissue, spit it out, get another one and repeat. This process went on for 30 minutes then she stopped. She sat still for a moment, then started tapping her foot. Foot tapping was only the beginning.

A few minutes later she started swaying then she started slightly kicking her legs up and down and then she straightened her arms placed her palms on the cushion and moved her arms up and down
back towards the cushion using it to make herself move back and forth

Tom looked to his right, and made the educated guess to move back to the other side of the compartment. Even though in theory it made sense that by moving to the side opposite of her he would be spared when the sugar was in full effect, but nothing could have spared him from that, he'd just have to wait and see what happened.

Soon after Tom moved seats she got up and started pacing back and forth and back and forth and she was slightly mumbling to herself though it wasn't audible. Lilith stopped for a moment then came a barrage of questions.

"So where are you from, when's your birthday, do you like cat's, why does your face almost always seem to be fixed in a constant scowl you look constipated, did you know you were a wizard before you got your letter, ho-" "CALM YOURSELF, for goodness sakes what is wrong with you" he said irritated "now before you go on and ask me a million more questions take a deep breath and try not to bounce off the walls, you're worse than a 5 year old" he scoffed and continued

"I don't really care to answer your ridiculous questions, and I'm sorry to say I've humored you long enough, now would you please give my book back and either come read it with me, or continue to bounce off the walls because of an excess of energy caused by your consumption of more sugar than should be humanly possible"

Lilith handed Tom the book and he quickly snatched it from her hands scanning the pages to see where he'd left off before he had been so rudely interrupted and not even a minute had passed before he felt someone poking his shoulder.

There's a limit to how much annoyance one person can take, Tom could take a lot, but even he had a limit and he was quickly reaching it he looked to his left and saw Lilith motioning for him to scoot over, he did so and they both began reading, after about an hour he finished reading, Lilith stood up and stretched, smiled then began again with the incessant question asking, only this time he had a warning and she was actually waiting for him to respond, and so civil conversation ensued.

"So" she started "where are you from"
"London, and you"
"Oh I'm from London as well, so when's your birthday?"
"December 31, 1926"
Lilith started laughing
"I'm older than youuu" she taunted Tom rolled his eyes and said "ah yes because you're 5 and that matters to you, I forgot, forgive me, but anyways, when might your birthday be?"

She looked at him very triumphantly said proudly "christmas eve, same year" she smirked "yes yes I know I have an incredible birthday, the best birthday in the world"
"Sure" he said with yet another roll of his eyes

"Are we done with these questions this is getting to be aggravating"
She looked at him clearly annoyed and said "fineeee, I'm just trying to get to know you better in hopes of being friends in the future, but I suppose it's a lost cause"

Tom paused and questioned "and why ever would you want to be friends with me, I don't enjoy your company in the slightest and I doubt you enjoy mine, so why don't you just give up, do us both a favor"

"Well" Lilith started "first I find you interesting, which is why I'd like to get to know you, people are interesting things and I like to figure them out, learn what makes them tick, it's not about enjoying the others company it's about mutual benefit or at the very least my benefit, second me giving up wouldn't be doing myself a favor, you're a very different kind of person and something about you just seems off for some reason, it's not a bad thing to be honest it'll probably draw in a lot of attention, whether good or bad, who cares honestly, but you're interesting and I'd like to figure you out" she paused then continued

"also if I get to know you then I can just do what I always do and just ignore everyone else helping me avoid more drama and more of everything else that comes with more people in the process"

He stopped for a moment and looked at her, his face practically spelling out the word "seriously" then he gave the closest thing to a laugh he had given all day as he said "so what you're saying is that I'm your people watching project while simultaneously being your excuse for lack of human interaction"
She gave a quick smirk and said "precisely"
Tom shrugged "at least you're honest"

They continued their trip to Hogwarts in an almost silence. Which was only possible due to the fact that Lilith had fallen asleep and her falling asleep was directly correlated to her inhuman consumption of sugar earlier.

Tom had grabbed another book and started reading it, when he heard her snoring, loudly. Each second made him redder in the face as he tried to stop himself from yelling.

Eventually he'd had enough and tapped her harshly on the shoulder and said quietly "if you don't stop snoring I'm going to grab this cushion and suffocate you and your insufferable snoring"

She woke up only briefly at his threat then immediately collapsed back onto the cushion until she heard the conductor giving a 30 minute warning till their arrival in hogsmeade. She jumped awake grabbed her robe and quickly changed into it.

Soon the train stopped, they had arrived.

a/n I'm proud of myself for writing two chapters so quickly, though I do hope that wasn't too terribly slow, I've never written a fanfiction about harry potter so it definitely won't be as good as others out there but maybe it won't be too terribly bad? I do hope it's relatively enjoyable
Oh, also I might start in first person next chapter I feel like when I write in third person it gets extremely dull but tell me what you think
See ya
