TW: guns, violence

You woke in the same position you apparently fell asleep in. Spencer's arms were wrapped tightly around your waist, his breathing steady and shallow. You moved slowly, careful to not wake him, craning your neck up to look at him. His head resting on the back on the couch, his eyes fluttering as he dreamt.

You went to sit up, your neck sore from the position you fell asleep in but was stopped by Spencers arms tightening around you. "don't go," he muttered, placing a kiss on your head. You brought a hand up to brush over his face, pushing his curls out of his eyes that were slowly opening.

But the moment was short lived by the pounding that was happening on the front door. Spencer stiffened, placing you beside him as he went to go check who it was. He had a thing about looking through the peep hole, claiming he was always afraid he'd get an eye poked out or something. He really needed to stop watching horror movies.

But this time, he did. You sat watching as he turned around and rolled his eyes. He held up his hand, rubbing his thumb over his index and middle finger. It was Cash. You rolled your eyes. He was the last person you wanted to talk to.

"Y/N open this fucking door right now or so help me god." Cash yelled from his place in the hall. You nodded towards Spencer, letting him know it was okay to open the door. He didn't get a word in before Cash pushed Spencer out of the way.

"Nope. No. We are not doing this." You stood, stomping your way over to where Cash was standing.

"Did he tell you where he was this morning? Did he explain why he looks the way he does?" Cash's hands were moving at a rapid rate, his face red with anger.

You crossed your arms, eyes narrowing at the man who raised you, "he did. Not that it's any of your business."

Cash ran his fingers through his hair, pulling on the roots as he paced the small area he was standing. Spencer stood there, eyes darting between you and him. Spencer was silent, but in all honesty, what was there to say. All's he wants is to keep the peace between you and your family. The last thing he wants is you ruining your relationship with them because of him. It was a conversation you'd both had many times, of which always ended in you telling him how you'd always choose Spencer over your fucked up family.

"It is my business when he's coming home to my daughter. He's a killer, y/n. A cold-blooded killer. And here you are defending him and pushing your mother and I away. For a fucking criminal." He was yelling now and you willed yourself not to cry. You refused to give him the satisfaction.

"You're lucky I didn't bring the cops with me." He stepped closer to Spence. You already knew if he got any closer that you would step in between them. "You're a fucking low life piece of shit. Constantly putting my daughter in harms way because you decide to kill for a living."

You stepped between the two men, knowing that nothing would happen if you got in the middle. You could tell from the body language alone that this was going to quickly turn into an all out brawl. Spencer Reid didn't fight, unless he had too. And while the idea of him throwing punches was hot as hell, right now was not the time for that to happen.

"Stop it! Why do you and mom constantly think it's okay to come into my home that I pay for and belittle my fiancé? Huh? What are you going to do, Cash? You gonna beat the shit out of him? Out of an FBI agent?" You huffed. "I fucking dare you to try it. You'll be in jail faster than you can throw a punch."

Cash let out a harsh laugh, "always picking this criminals side. You'll see. One day you'll see him for who he really is. And when that happens, your mother and I will be right here with open arms. Because at the end of the day, no one will love you like we do. No one."

"You're fucked." Spencer spoke up from behind you. He carefully moved you to the side, stepping closer to your 'father'. "I've done some fucked up shit in my life, but I own up to that. What about you, Cash? Hmm? Want to explain to her how you know where I was this morning? How you knew that I was apart of her fathers crew? Or shall I?"

You looked between the two men. You were sure the look of confusion was plastered all over your face. But then it all clicked. You let out a sharp laugh, causing both men to turn to look at you, "Oh this is fucking good. You fucking hypocrite."

You watched as Cash's eyes grew wider. Clearly this was secret he was taking to the grave. "Sweetie, it's not a sinister as he's making it out to be."

You once more crossed your arms, urging him to continue, but Spencer beat him to the punch. "Not as sinister? You paid off Jameson. Paid him to torture me. Paid some of my own men to go along with it and cover it up." Your mouth was on the floor, but Spence continued.

"But what you didn't expect was for Jameson to go off the rails. You didn't expect him to live stream it. Then when I got away, you didn't expect him to take y/n. Right?" Cash's gaze on Spencer didn't faulter. But you were shaking. What even was your fucking life?

"But you needed someone other than yourself to blame, so you blamed me and Richie. Lured him into a apartment that had y/n's name on it. Spread rumors he did it. Stayed in the shadows. Played the part of caring father. If I'm scum, so aren't you."

Before you could process it, Cash was on Spencer. His fists colliding with Spencer's face, slipping open the wounds from this morning. But Spencer had been trained in hand to hand combat, something he got better at after prison. The two men wresting on your living room floor, while you did everything to get them apart. But they were much bigger than you were.

Cash wrapped his fingers around Spencers neck, squeezing the life out of your fiancé right in front of you while Spencer scratched to get away. You were frozen. No matter how much you willed yourself to move you couldn't. Spencer tried throwing punches to get Cash off of him. But it wasn't working.

The noise came before you could register it. A bang, then a thud, then the sound of a sharp intake of breath. You moved your eyes to the gun you'd just shot. Your ears ringing as you watched Spencer get up and walk you way. Everything felt like it was moving in slow motion. Spencer ripped the glock from your fingers, replacing the safety and holstering it between his hip and his jeans. He sat you down on the floor, his hands cupping for face.

"Fluff? Baby? Hey, hey. Shhh it's okay." He tried to comfort you, wiping away the tears you didn't know were falling.

You watched as Spencer moved to dial 911, making his way over to the bleeding man on the floor. He was alive, the bullet hitting him in the groin. Spencer put pressure on the wound while talking to operator.

Meanwhile you curled your knees up to your chest, hugging them tight. You shot the man who raised you. If you thought it was bad, wait till your mother got word of this.

...

The EMT's took Cash out on the stretcher, taking him to the hospital to have the bullet removed. But the police were still there taking statements. Spencer hadn't left your side once Cash was taken.

"He came over, throwing around accusations about where I was this morning. She tried to calm him down but he just got out of control and started throwing punches. I tried everything I could to get him off of me, but he ended up choking me. She couldn't get him to stop, so she pulled the trigger."

You didn't speak. Your fingers were checked for gun powder, your personal gun checked for number of bullets. You thought for sure your life was over, so you just waited for them to cuff you.

But then they were gone. No cuffs, no charges. Just gone. Leaving you and Spencer alone in awkward silence.

Spencer enveloped you in a hug, resting his chin on your head as the waterworks started. The reality of the situation hit you like a ton of bricks. You'd shot your father. Or the man who you'd once thought was your father.
