8: 注意 (attention)

"Good Morning students of Seulli High, please go to your classrooms immediately. Again, Students of Seulli High, please go to your classrooms immediately, Thank you." The principal announced over the School PA.

"I wonder what's happening again..." Jungwon mumbles as he rolled his eyes, knowing that most of these happen because of big problems.

"Hopefully I'm not getting suspended." Jake clasped his hands together as he closed his eyes, walking to class while praying.

In just a matter of minutes, the hallways were left empty.

Sunoo was already in class, talking to several of his classmates just like how he was before anything started.

Ni-ki, on the other hand, was just sitting on Sunoo's seat, looking outside the window to clear his mind.

"Hello Class B, Aren't you wondering why the principal has gathered you all here?" Their one and only adviser ask as she starts writing on the board.

The class stayed silent for they don't know what was the reason they were gathered earlier than usual.

Some of them were scared that their adviser would scold them, Some didn't want to listen at all, and some just sat there patiently for the teacher to explain.

"We'll be having our annual School trip!" The teacher exclaims happily followed by students screaming out of excitement.

Sunoo was excited about this school trip. He never had the chance to get in because of his overprotective parents so he really is hoping to get in this time.

"Omo! We're going to Europe this year?" Screams the noisy girl from their class as she reads the details their adviser has written on the board.

"Isn't it winter there by this time of the month?" Asks her seatmate.

"Yes, dear. That's why I need you to prepare before the 1-week trip, Understood?"

"Yes, Miss." The students reply to their teacher.

Sunoo was excited to see snow in early September!

Snow only comes in Seoul during November so he's really excited to see it in Europe.

(Seulli High is known for being one of the most prestigious schools internationally, that's why their school trip is usually overseas.)

"Okay, I have written everything on the board, please take time to write it in your notebooks later. Now please listen carefully as I will only be mentioning the pairing once."

Sunoo earnestly waited for his name to be mentioned. Honestly, he didn't really care who he'd get paired with as long as it wasn't that one guy. Yes, Nishimura Riki in fact.

"... Youngbin and Geonu, Ryujin and Beomgyu, Karina and Winter..."

Most of the class list was already mentioned but Sunoo was not yet called.

"... and Ni-ki and Sunoo."

"What?!" Sunoo whisper-shouted.

Ni-ki liked the idea, but deep inside, his heart says that Sunoo is happy with someone else. He would do anything just to be with Sunoo and be the one to make him smile.

Yet, Sunoo would do anything just not to be with Ni-ki and enjoy life with Sunghoon.

"Hey..." Ni-ki calls Sunoo softly.

"Okay, I know we're partners this year but we don't have my parents' consent yet. They're very strict about anything I do, you know." Sunoo clearly pointed out that he doesn't like the teacher assigning them together.

Ni-ki simply shrugged, tucking his hands inside his pocket. "I'm sorry about last week, I didn't mean it. I was just worried he might be not good for you."

"Yeah? I'd rather be with Sunghoon!" Sunoo frowned, looking at the window. "I'll just tell my parents I'm not going like usual."

"Do your parents really take care of everything for you?" Ni-ki asked, confusing Sunoo since no one has asked him that question.

Sunoo just pouted, answering Ni-ki's question. "Well, I don't like them being too overprotective. It's just that... ugh, forget it."

"You're lucky to have parents who care. They give their full attention on you, eat dinner with you, talk with you."

"You like that? It's annoying." Sunoo stared at Ni-ki with concern. "Don't tell me your parents are..." He then held Ni-ki's hand after seeing him nod. "Oh my, I'm so sorry. That explains why you're mean to me. You never had the attention you want."

"Don't worry, I'm okay—"

"No. I'll go to the school trip whether my parents like it or not, whether I'm okay or not. We'll go together." Sunoo smiled brightly at Ni-ki, just like those crescent eyes he showed Sunghoon. "I don't care if you don't want to be friends but you are Kim Sunoo's official best friend!"

Fuck. Sunoo is too innocent. He doesn't know how much he's killing Ni-ki! Ni-ki might go to heaven at this point with his heart racing faster than light. "Oh, that's kind of you."

"I'll forgive you for what you did to Sunghoon. Now be kind to me and call me your friend!"

Ni-ki tried holding his laugh, but then he bursted laughing. "Fine, I'll be friends with you. It means you have to be with me 24/7."

"Oh? I didn't think about that—"

"Don't forget, you're my best friend now."

Sunoo swallowed the lump in his throat as he avoided Ni-ki's gaze, suddenly questioning himself why he thought Ni-ki was handsome. "Don't look at me. You're so ugly."

"What the— Hey, You shouldn't be saying that to your friend—"

"Haha, ugly!" Sunoo stood up from his chair as he ran around the classroom with Ni-ki chasing him. "Catch me, Ni-ki!"

It was Ni-ki's first time to smile and laugh this much. He felt like it was just the two of them, no one else can ruin their fun. Can't they just stay here?

"Sunoo!" Sunghoon knocked on their classroom's door, catching Sunoo's attention by waving his lunchbox. "Let's have recess on the rooftop."

"Sunghoon!" Sunoo ran to hug Sunghoon, which was now his boyfriend. "Sunghoon, Ni-ki and I are friends now so you don't need to worry."

Ni-ki's huge smile slowly faltered as he saw Sunoo smiling bigger with Sunghoon. "You guys are a thing now?"

"Yes! I'm so happy!" Sunoo wrapped his arms around Sunghoon and laughed loudly. "Sunghoon and I are gonna be eating now, bye Ni-ki~!"

Ni-ki waved his hands goodbye as he watched Sunghoon and Sunoo walk through the hallways, holding hands.

Just as when he knew no one could ruin what they have, Ni-ki forgot that there was Sunghoon.

And he's just all alone... again.
