the next morning i was up bright and early for work, but today i was happy. i felt refreshed, and my head finally felt clear. i now knew there was nothing between corbyn and me, so i definitely needed to tell him that... and it absolutely had to be in person. but before that, i had a shift and then after zach was taking me to the beach later.

after a long morning at work, i headed home and got dressed to go out with zach. he wasn't picking me up until about 6 so i had some time to sit and think about how i was going to tell corbyn, and let him down easily. i really didn't want to hurt him, and i definitely want to stay friends... but i just hope he feels the same way.

zach knocked on my door a little after 6 and smiled as we drove towards the beach with the windows down, and the music blasting loud. he grabbed a basket out of the backseat and threw a blanket over his shoulder "wait are we having a picnic" i said excitedly, and he slightly giggled.

"i guess it can't really be a surprise with this basket... my mom insisted i use it instead of a backpack" he said shyly. "surprise or not, i love it! you didn't have to go through all the trouble" i said wrapping my arm around his free one. he just smiled down at me as we walked along the water until we made it to a nice place to set the blanket down.

zach, or his mom more than likely, had fixed little sandwiches with some fruit and a little bowl of brownies. as zach got it all out of the basket his eyes lit up with enthusiasm and i could really tell he put a lot of thought into this. after he got everything out we dug in and started talking and eating while we watched the sun dip down below the edge of the water.

once it was completely dark we laid down on the blanket and looked up, trying to find any bit of stars under the LA sky. zach had one arm around me with the other propping his head up behind him. i snuggled up close to him with my head on his chest as we laid there listening to the waves. it was so peaceful and relaxing, nothing could've made it more perfect of an afternoon.

after awhile of silence, zach cleared his throat "hey y/n" he said quietly, like he was afraid if he spoke too loud he'd scare the peacefulness away. "yeah?" i replied "what would you say about us being official? you know... like you being my girlfriend..." he said, nerves laced in his quiet words. i looked up at him and smiled, but then my face got serious again and i sat up... him doing the same shortly after. ___________________________________
