It only took about a week for me to get a response from Big Hit after sending my audition tape. I was told I needed to go to Korea for a live audition, no expense paid. So I went, did my audition, and not long afterwards I received word that I was accepted. I was ecstatic. I left my life in America behind in a heartbeat (I never really liked it there) and left for Korea.
I wasn't really worried about anything except for one, maybe two things. I've been self harming (mainly cutting, but I've burned a little too) for three years. I started when I was 13. I don't know how anyone would react if they see my scars. The ones on my arms have faded, I stopped harming there after I was caught the second time, so I don't really have to worry about those; but I have to remember to never show my stomach or upper thighs. I'm pretty good at hiding my problem, but when I debut I'm sure they'll have me wear some pretty revealing clothing. I'll have to be even more careful than I was in America. The second thing: I'm not Asian. I'm not extremely worried about this, but it is a bit of a concern. I'm of German descent so I have blond hair and brown eyes and I'm rather pale. I'm short, I would get picked on by my friends in America about it. My friends that were younger than me would use my head and shoulders as arm rests, the ones that were the same age as me would crack jokes, I knew it was all for fun but still.
When the plane landed I took a train and went directly to the Big Hit building. I talked to the person in charge and since it was Sunday, I got my dorm key and just went straight to the dorm. In Korea, school was out for the summer, so I don't have to worry about that yet. My training starts tomorrow. I'll be singing, dancing, and learning Korean.

The next day I woke up a little after noon and got dressed. I have a roommate, but I haven't met her yet. She was sleeping in someone else's dorm last night and I guess she hasn't got back yet. I shrugged it off and decided to go for a walk. This is my second time in Korea and I still haven't gone sightseeing or shopping or anything. I left the dorms and almost immediately ran into someone.
"I'm sorry!" I said and bowed to the tall figure standing in front of me. It was a tall man with puffy blond hair. He laughed.
"It's okay. You're not from here, are you?" he asked, in perfect English mind you.
"No, I'm not. I'm from America," I replied.
"Oh, that's cool. Where in America?" he seemed very interested.
"York Pennsylvania. Otherwise known as the middle of nowhere," I joked, "Oh, by the way, my name is Melissa."
"My name is Namjoon," he introduced himself.
"Nice to meet you, Namjoon. I should probably be going, see you later?" I said.
"Yeah, see you later," he smiled. I smiled back and went out.---------------------------------------------
