Despite the mystery that was Oliver Wood and his grudges most people liked Melody. She was your typical Hufflepuff, the heart of gold, not a mean bone in her body. Saying that she did have a bit of a temper on her, it took a lot to fire her up but if you got on the wrong side of her there was no going back. Thankfully however not many people were on this side and if you weren't, she was a rather brilliant friend.

Two weeks of the term had passed already, and Melody was in her stride, her laughter rang through the hall as she sat with her group of friends eating breakfast.

'Todays Quidditch tryouts,' she told her friends, Olivia Pugh and Alex Thorne.

'You'll be fine,' Olivia reassured her reaching across the table and squeezing her hand, 'you're a brilliant keeper, even keep Wood on his toes and you'll be an even better captain,'

'She'd like to be on something else of Woods though,' Alex smirked causing the group to roar out with laughter as Mel flicked his ear.

'You know I only tease him cause it throws him off his game,'

'Yeah, of course, that's the only reason,' Liv muttered dodging Melody's hand.

'Malcolm Preece was really good last year, I hope he tries out again' Melody murmured bring the conversation back to quidditch.

'Mel?', a good-looking boy in the year below asked, 'Can I have a word?'

'Yeah, of course, Cedric,' she smiled kindly walking over towards him, 'what's up?'

'I just wanted to congratulate you on getting quidditch captain, but I didn't want you to think I was just sucking up and I spiralled a little bit,' he said with a hollow laugh

'Oh Ced, I love you, as if I could ever think you have anything other than pure intentions?'

'It's just I didn't want you to think that I was using you to get back on the team.'

'Oh Ced,' the girl laughed pulling her into a hug, 'don't be silly, you're gonna be on the team,' She pulled out of the hug and cupped his face in her hands making both of them chuckle. 'I actually had a question,'

'Shoot,'

'Well, I'm prefect and quidditch captain so I might need a bit of help so I wondered if you'd be my deputy and help me out a bit, we can kinda share the team?'

He laughed and kissed her on the forehead, 'that would be perfect. I doubt you'll need my help though, there's nothing you couldn't do.'

'Oh Ceddie,' she smiled at him as they sat down and went back to their porridge.

'I hate divination,' Alex groaned slumped against the back wall of the classroom, 'why can't we just sit where we want.'

'I can see why she's doing it, but it does feel a bit tedious,' Percy whispered over too them,

'Percy Weasley speaking in a lesson, and not worshipping a teacher, what on earth is going on.' Melody exclaimed indignantly smiling.

'She's such a fake,' Wood whispered in his Scottish accent, making Melody smile despite herself.

The group were some of the last ones to be sorted, Professor Trelawney was making her class peer into a crystal ball and seating them accordingly.

'Melody, my dear, would you like too come and take a look?' she said in her airy voice.

'Ummm,' she stuttered, not seeing anything but her own reflection, 'death,' finally said firmly, 'and pain and umm,'

'Suffering?' Oliver added from the back of the room with a smirk.
