Melody woke up feeling better than she had in days, she had a plan, she was going to avoid Oliver as if he was the plague, she didn't have time for boys let alone the captain of her rival quidditch team. She needed to focus, no distractions, no burley Scottish lads at that. This however was made slightly more complicated by the fact that they were sat on the same rather small table in divination.
'Alright lass?' he asked as she sat herself down next to him.
'Yes, thank you,' she replied politely sitting with perfect posture, positioned gracefully on her chair, her hands crossed on her lap as she looked forwards, her attention solely focused on their Professor.
He tried his best to talk to her but everything he tried seemed pointless Melody sat there composed focused on her work, its as if he didn't know the girl next to him. His only comfort was Alex, he walked past the pair to grab a teacup pausing at their table, 'Mel,' he hissed, 'you look like you've got a stick up your arse.'
This was answered with a rather unceremonious snort from the girl who cringed at herself. 'Shove off,'
'That's very rude of you Lady Fawley,' Oliver said quietly not looking up from his teacup, he could sense the smile growing on her face, whatever was going on with her he'd chipped her walls. God girls are weird, he thought to himself as he glanced up to see her smiling at him.
Eventually, after some awkward small talk, the pair relaxed and fell back into their normal banter,
'Guess what my tea leaves look like,' Mel smirked,
'My handsome face,' he replied with a wiggle of his eyebrows,
She giggled at this, 'no it's Hufflepuff crushing you in quidditch,' she sneered at him, he laughed and grabbed the cup from her.
'Nope, nope, looks like you falling off your broom to me,'
'Oh really,' she questioned shaking her head at his idiocy.
Professor Trelawney cleared her throat from the front of the class, 'if Mr Wood and Ms Fawley are finished flirting, I would like to get back to teaching please.'
The class burst into sniggers as Melody turned red giggling slightly.
'Not just you anymore,' Oliver whispered too her quietly making the girl freeze,
'What?'
'You heard me.'
'Oliver?' she questioned.
'Please,' Professor Trelawney interrupted again, 'I see a beautiful relationship between you two, but please, conduct it on your own time. Or I will be forced to give you detention.'
Melody apologised to the professor and focused on her work, but Oliver wasn't quite finished yet,
'If you wanted a date that bad all you have to do is ask, no need for detention.
Melody chose to ignore him not quite sure how to react she scoffed and began writing down her observations her mind bursting with thoughts.
'He's a cocky idiot,' Melody complained to Cedric over lunch,
'An idiot whos cock you want,' Alex butted in resulting in a slap from an outraged Melody and a fit of giggles from Olivia.
'Oh Melody,' the other girl said, 'I heard Malfoy talking about Eleanor, she's got detention with Filch,'
'She's what?' the eldest Fawley exclaimed pushing herself from her bench and storming over to the Gryffindors table.
'Ello Melody,' Harry greeted her cheerily, but his smile quickly faded at seeing the scowl painted across her face.
'Explain. Now' she commanded to her sister.
'Explain what? What are you on about sis?' Eleanor answered, this, however, was the wrong answer, Melody grew even angrier,
'Do not play dumb with me Eleanor, start talking now.'
The little girl started to mumble trying to come up with excuses,
'Eleanor Elizabeth Fawley,' she raged, 'why do you have a detention.'
Before the child had a chance to explain she was interrupted by Percy Weasley, 'Melody, what are you doing over here?'
'I'm trying to figure out why Eleanor's gone and got herself a detention.'
The fifth year's prefect status was obvious as they stood in front of their younger siblings looking disappointed and almost challenging them to lie to them.
'Ronald, were you involved?' Percy asked the dishevelled looking Weasley murmured a yes. 'Oh, you better start talking as well young man,' he sneered in a perfect impression of his mother.
'It was Malfoy,' Eleanor started to explain, her and Ron explained quickly over the top of each other making it rather hard to understand.
'Hermione,' Percy spoke to the bushy-haired girl, 'you explain please.'
After hearing what had happened the older two were still rather annoyed with their younger siblings, 'you know what,' Melody spoke her voice scarily calm, 'I'm taking five points from you all for the pure stupidity of letting Malfoy find out.'
'You can't do that,' the children cried,
'I think you find she can,' Percy interjected, 'I will not hesitate to take more if you continue to be so rude,'
'Alright lass, what's going on here?' Oliver Wood asked as he walked over to his table smiling pleasantly at the Hufflepuff he didn't expect to see.
'She's just taken twenty points from Gryffindor!' Ron exclaimed looking outraged,
'You what?' he asked,
'I'm a prefect Wood, I think you'll find I'm well within my parameters to discipline my sister and her friends.'
'Yeah, but twenty, come on lass,' he tried to reason with the girl,
She span back on her heel and faced the table, 'you lot better apologise too Neville as well else Perc will take more.' She threatened before turning to walk away.
A strong hand gripped her wrist pulling her back around, 'you're strict,'
'I'm a prefect Wood,'
'Yeah, and a harsh one,'
'Let go of my arm, Oliver,'
'Why,'
'Ollie Bear,' the girl smirked, 'I will not hesitate to take points from you as well,'
'I'd like to see you try,' he scoffed at the girl,
'Let's see,' she paused running her eyes over him, 'five points for not listening to a superior, that seems fair doesn't it?' she questioned holding his gaze.
'Want to play it dirty do you lass?' they were speaking barely above a whisper the low vibrations of their voices setting the tone. Melody broke away from his grip and turned away from him flipping her hair into his face.
'See you later Wood,' she called as she made her way back over too her friends who had been watching the scene with bated breath.
'Talk about sexual tension,' Alex smirked at her, but the topic was dropped instantly by the stare Melody replied with.
