Melody jerked awake, not sure of where she was or who had been asleep on, 'it's alright lass,' the familiar Scottish accent said to her causing her to jump up immediately, memories of last night pouring back to her.

'Not a word of this to anyone,' she snapped, he held up his hands in surrender a smile on his lips his hair tousled not looking his best after sleeping in a chair with some random crying Hufflepuff asleep on him.

'Oh not to worry Mel, I doubt we would have believed him if he did tell us,' Cedric said from behind her. Melody span around on the spot her staring at her friends who were staring at her from a crack in the curtains.

'I, um, I-i-, uh, I well,' she stumbled over her word trying to come up with an excuse, 'I- well, you know,'

'No,' Cedric spoke grinning at the flustered pair, 'we don't know, please, explain.' The three in the curtains laughed at Melody's face.

'Sorry mate,' Oliver spoke standing up patting Cedric on the shoulder, 'she was just a bit upset, won't happen again, sorry,' he muttered walking out of the room.

The group burst into laughter, 'why'd he apologise to me?' Cedric wondered aloud as Olivia and Alex laughed at Melody.

'Oi,' a small voice spoke from a hospital bed, 'I almost died, give me some attention.' The group laughed even harder.

'You're so dramatic,' Alex laughed walking over to the bed.

'Yeah,' Liv laughed, 'you broke your leg,'

'I fought a fully grown mountain troll,' Eleanor said indignantly before falling into laughter with her sister her friends munching happily on some chocolate frogs Cedric had bought for her. They stayed there for a while until Eleanor's friends turned up at the older students gave them their space going down for an early lunch.

The rest of the day passed in a blur Melody held a last-minute quidditch practise and visited Eleanor once again before falling asleep dreaming about the quidditch match the next day.

Melody woke up at 6 am the next day too nervous to sleep, she got dressed into her quidditch uniform grabbed her notebook and made her way downstairs to the great hall. Aside from a few stressed looking Ravenclaws who were revising the hall was empty. Melody sat down at the middle of her table filling up a bowl of porridge and a coffee staring over her plays.

'Melody,' a husky voice from behind her said,

'Wood,' she replied coolly spinning around to face him her face expressionless. 'What can I help you with?'

'I just came to ask how Eleanor was, no need to bite my head off,'

'Oh sorry,' she replied hurriedly, 'I'm just trying to get in the zone, she's good though thank you, should be out today,'

'Good,' he replied, sitting down next to her looking at her notebook.

'Hey,' she shouted snatching it from his reach and slamming it shut, 'no cheating.'

He merely laughed at her, 'calm down lass, I don't need to cheat to beat you,'

'You've not seen us play,' she countered,

'I'm ready to see you get beaten by Ravenclaw,' he smirked but her guarded expression faded for a second her nerves peaking through before she snapped back at him. He couldn't help but feel bad for her, this was her first game as a captain, and she was dreading it.

He got up to leave and turned to face her, 'for what it's worth Melody, I've never had to take Hufflepuff seriously until now, good luck,' he smiled.
